They didn't have much going on in the RP storyline, Mighty and Powerful Gods was the last team to really be invested in that with their rivarly with wilkins and quest to get the All-Spark to become actual mighty and powerful gods and the romance subplot.

Repeat of the gay wedding thing I guess, people more invested in the RP ending than the actual finale.

Pretty much this. A ton of new people showing up that year(both real and offsite) smothered the threads in guys who weren't at 2018 and then by R3 most of the OC pivoted to focusing on the Spinel train instead of the beauty pageant thing. (Like go back and look at the OC for qualifiers or R1 of that year, it's almost all pageant themed, while by the later rounds that's not in most of the OC).

Then we lost the 2018 host who was actively promoting that style by engaging with the threads and teasing results earlier and all, the pageant thing was his idea and he really pushed for it. Stats didn't do any of that so even though the judges were still listed fewer and fewer people focused their art on it, and then Monarch had the tranny allegations and Mr. /co/ was an RPfest and then the FARTS and spite stuff happened and people just stopped caring about the original premise.

There's also the fact the whole reason we needed a gimic is because there were a ton of other tournaments operating on /co/ at the time. To the point discussion of them spilled over into Ms. /co/. Meanwhile by 2020, our tournaments became THE tournaments and all the other rando ones died off so there was no need for a gimic to stand out. It got Rob The Roboted.

It made more sense in the first couple years when we were still figuring this out.

The entire reason we renamed it is because "Characters no one had ever heard of " stopped showing up by 2022/2023 and by 2024/2025 we were forced to change the rules and start picking characters who had already been in prior tournaments which completely killed the original spirit.

But for example with Ms 2025 when there were first time qualified characters like Black Cat, Rouge, Cheetah. These characters came out of nowhere but were never considered for the award, while Callie did have actual tournament history and was close to qualifying in the years she did not, so it was nowhere near a literal who. Well, anons... it happened. Against all logic, the odds, and honestly, quite a few laws of physics...

Regular Duo, composed of Mordecai and Rigby are your TAG-TEAM /CO/ 2025 CHAMPIONS!

>Regular Duo (Mordecai and Rigby) - 1st Place:
Pure chaos, pure friendship, and somehow it all just worked out. They laughed their way to the top and showed that chemistry can really beat calculation.

>World's Finest (Superman and Batman) - 2nd Place:
An impressive run. They had precision, legacy, and were dominant from start to finish, just getting edged out right at the end.

>Goof Troop (Goofy and Max Goof) - 3rd Place:
Full of heart, family vibes, and solid performances. They walk away proud, highlighting one of the most beloved runs of the tournament.

>Robotnik's Robots (Scratch and Grounder) - 4th Place:
Tough, resilient, and stubborn right until the last bolt. They finished strong, refusing to give in.

ELITE PLACEMENTS

>5th: The Krusty Krab's Kantankerous Kapitalistic Konquest (SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs)
>6th: Spy vs Spy (Black Spy and White Spy)
>7th: The Frollo Show (Gaston and Frollo)
>8th: Witches Rule (Luz and Amity)

Each of these teams left their mark, and the anons made sure their votes were felt all the way through the bracket. Before I wrap up... a massive thank you to my co-commentator, Guy Smiley. I couldn't have done this without you, my friend. It was a blast sharing the mic!

From the nominations to the finals, from chaos to champions, thanks for watching, voting, and caring way too much in the best possible way.

For any niche/cult favorite /co/ the main tournaments are too difficult. Only 8 winners for each, around 35 Elite 8s in that timespan, the same characters rotating the top 128 spots the last half decade so it is an accomplishment to even qualify outside that higher tier. Even for the popular Regular Show they had no shot of winning and a very minuscule Elite 8 chance for Mr /co/
Sure if you are Hank Hill anything but winning the main tournament is a disappointment, but for everyone besides a small group the side tournaments matter

??? The finale was actually well-recieved and is arguably the best closer of modern DTVA. The trashing of OH is mainly over lesbians/Dana politics and how messy S1 was way before that.
Anyways I think it's still cool to get E8 in a tourney like tag if you were a supporter of those characters. Of course they're not as prestigious as the big ones. You wouldn't expect most of who does well or even wins side tourneys to also win the big ones.

Most of the complaints I saw (besides from Belos was right types) were about the Collector being a lackluster character and Amity not getting one last confrontation with Odalia. People who were rooting for an ending where Luz has to leave the Boiling Isles forever weren't paying attention to the show's themes and only have themselves for blame.
