1. Regular Duo (they're iconic and it's probably their best shot at anything, but they've had a pretty low-energy campaign)
2. Robotnik's Robots (same here, except even less of a campaign in previous rounds + characters from a /v/ adaptation, even /co/ original characters, is a bit iffy)
3. World's Finest (I just think it'd be pretty underwhelming if the time Superman or Batman won a tournament was this instead of Mr., and their campaign is nearly nonexistent)
4. Goof Troop (I kinda like Maxxposting, but it's not really a team)

I don't know, I wish this one had more activity all around. Last year's was better.

Disagree about the campaign comments and Goof Troop is definitely a team.
But yes this is a comparatively low energy year overall. I feel like maybe it's a combo of lower post-hack activity in general and the /co/ attempt siphoning some energy. The sea crab and frollo teams at least I think were active there but didn't show up here.

Now that their run is over I think people will look back and wonder how they even made Elite 8 from this group when a number of these had great campaigns, are really solid duos on their own accord, or both. But Tag-Team has always been weird like that

Kind of expected all of them to lose. Frollo is a team that needs the campaigner around. Come to think of it any non-canon teams need a campaigner to really make them work cause they're not self-evident in the same way a normal team is. Witches Rule sort of felt like this years Niacey. It's fine to have one or a few eclectic picks in E8.

Disney should make a Grand Theft Auto game but with Zootopia characters. Or maybe even their own Smash Bros. using many classic and modern Disney movies, seeing how WB and Nickelodeon already tried that.

And speaking of which, did you know Capcom made a game produced by Shigeru Miyamoto that had Mickey perform Street Fighter moves? Apparently it was also the reason why he was barely in the first Kingdom Hearts.

On the topic of World’s Finest, I think /v/‘s comment about the lack of thematic matches is actually spot on here regarding them being inactive.
Superman’s whole deal is fighting larger than life villains and sci-fi threats while Batman can deal with mystery and more psychological threats. Meanwhile their opponents have been things like a parody crossover theme, Calvin and Hobbes and the Disney witch couple. What do you have to work with there?

Batman has too many iconic team ups for just one tourney. Robin is of course the one that makes the most sense but Superman is just as valid when you consider the decades of history the two have together. It's a shame we have to choose and neither should be discounted.

The good part is them making E8 opens up a slot for the Dynamic Duo next year. And Trios means all three can be together without having to choose.

>1. Regular Duo
Great pairing from a great show. Their dynamic was core to the show's formula, and both have endearing flaws in spite of one ending up with some worse writing spawning from them. Easily one of the best 2010s picks that could win, and one of the strongest Cartoon Network duos. If you want to get more meta too, they're basically no shots in Mr. /co/, and Regular Show has a tough road to win regardless there.
>2. Goof Troop
Do agree Max is carrying slightly in terms of campaigning, but a solid father-son duo is a real fun dynamic to see get this far. Would be a solid Disney winner and just welcome variety to the current slate of winning teams.
>3. World's Finest
Very good and iconic duo, but held back somewhat by feeling less strong specifically as one compared to the others left here. There's some great stories and portrayals of the two together, but there's so much beyond that as well. A Batman & Robin team would arguably make more sense too if it wasn't hard to fixate on just one Robin. Still would still be a fine duo to win, but they'd also carry at least a slight feeling of being a less efficient or exciting pairing than other options out there.
>4. Robotnik's Robots
Solid comedic pair. Just doesn't seem like a strong pick to outright win Tag-Team. They're at least more cartoon specific than Robotnik, but they do feel propped up by association with a longer lasting video game series rather than being more organic. They have the worst primary source material available out of these teams, and just don't feel as strong as specific characters. Semi-finals seems like the perfect place for them to settle.

No winner here I'd dislike, but do think there's two more satisfying options left.

Welcome back, everyone! Now let's ake a moment to breathe, because this is where Tag-Team /co/ 2025 takes a turn from fun to legendary. We've narrowed it down to four teams, and every one of them has truly earned their spot here.

SEMIFINALS: ONLY FOUR REMAIN!

>Match 1: Goof Troop (Goofy & Max) vs World's Finest (Batman & Superman):
This matchup is all about heart versus history. Goof Troop has made it this far through teamwork, trust, and that unbeatable father-son connection. On the flip side, World's Finest comes in with a long history of reputation and sheer power. It's discipline against dedication, strategy facing off against sincerity. One of these pairs is ready to show that teamwork is more than just power levels.

>Match 2: Robotnik's Robots (Scratch & Grounder) vs Regular Duo (Mordecai & Rigby):
Now, here comes chaos in two very distinct forms. Robotnik's Robots have fought their way through with stubborn grit and mechanical madness, while Regular Duo keeps succeeding in a baffling way through good vibes, luck, and whatever their latest plan happens to be. It's order versus instinct, gears facing off against gut feelings. Honestly? Nobody's feeling too relaxed about this matchup.

And don't think for a second that the teams who got knocked out in the quarterfinals are finished.

PLACEMENT VOTING STILL OPEN

We're also ranking for 5th through 8th place, so if your favorite duo didn't make it through, this is your chance to stand up for their legacy. Bragging rights count, and history pays attention to placement.

The semifinals are live, the ballots are heating up, and from here on out… there are no easy choices. Two teams are going to drop out, two will advance, and then will be crowned champions. This is Brenda Springer, and Tag-Team /co/ 2025 just reached its boiling point!

A Tag-team for female characters exclusively? It's proven thanks to the previous tag-teams no one is interested on female characters winning Tag-teams and the last time they did they were surrounded in controversy like Reagan and the Goth Chicks.

I figure the all stars question can be asked next year when the 8th year tourney is concluding, which is how /co/ was done. Likewise I think the /v/ tourneys will ask the question this (their 8th) year.

I don't think it's necessary. Besides, there are plenty of characters who work better with a female partner like the Glitch Techs.

Hello, and welcome to the semifinals of the exciting Tag-Team! Here we are folks, the almost-last round of the tournament! With four teams left standing, there's only a matter of time to find out who will be our newest champions. Let's see our two matches:

At match 1, Goof Troops are kicking up with a catchy beat that is enough to get anyone dancing on their feet. However, World's Finest have already figured out how to disable their rhythm as Superman zaps the ground with his heat vision. This caused both Goofy and Max to move around spastically as they try to dodge out the incoming lasers which gives Batman a chance to catch them with his rope. With father and son now trapped in their ropes, they can only stand there as World's Finest gives them a rapid beating! Can they move back onto the dance floor, or will our heroes make their way to the finals?

At match 2, Robotnik's Henchmen aren't having the best semifinalist moment here as Regular Duo are putting up glitches into their programming. Rigby began to claw Grounder's face as he desperately tries to get the raccoon off of him. Meanwhile, Mordecai just hacked Scratch's head off after giving him the classic punchy! Apparently, Scratch works actually like a chicken as his headless body tries to get it's head back as the blue jay is now using it like a basketball. Can Robotnik's Henchmen help their boss become a winner, or will he forever remain a jobber thanks to two slackers?

This is a semifinal of ultimate chaos and we don't even know who will be our next finalists. So who will they be? Vote now!

Alright, let's hope we don't go to jail for this.
