Robo-Fortune gameplay (most of her normals) plus last weeks stream. Some pretty solid matches and actual commentary for once: http://www.twitch.tv/ugclive/v/3761954?t=14m25s
>>193154 >>193155 Got those images sort of back to front didn't you. Also not all of those characters are playable, regardless thanks for posting them.
A little thing thats rather interesting in this is that Ginyu has a costume that is Goku with a Scouter while Goku has a costume that is Ginyu. Just an interesting way to do that thing instead of what you would expect.
>>193159 >All of those duplicate costumes on the same character. Goku alone has like 4 variations of his ripped gei, and Vegeta has no pink shirt >for_what_purpose.jpg
>>193163 Actually for one thing Goku has similar variations on his Gi because they are being accurate to the show. Each of them are the same overall martial-arts outfit but have different symbols to represent the different masters he trained under.
Also the different 'costumes' for the series characters are not just costumes, they also have different stats and special moves, another reason Goku has so many to himself.
>>193164 I get they're being show accurate, but it still feels kind of lazy and that they could have done a little more with the costume/ alt move concept. For one aside from the "super evil" versions of some characters, there aren't any specific alternate timeline ones. This could have lead to some pretty interesting things and it feels like a completely missed opportunity.
Also in regards to many characters having outfits extremely similar to others, but having different strengths and moves, this can create some battlefield confusion especially in 2v2 or 3v3 matches. Due to the core nature of the game, this shouldn't be too problematic, but it is worth noting in my opinion.
Also the game already has an infinite: Super Saiyan then Deathball spam. If you're hit once it's game over. (super armor while charging it seems, plus another can be charged while one is already out. Also it tracks, is huge, and has a ton of hitstun.) The good news is that you can beat it by simply running away in a circle around the attacked until SSJ runs out.
>>193170 From what I've seen, it looks like they're divided into two factions: Hero and Villain. No idea if you can train under both or if you have to define your alignment. As far as mechanics go, it looks like they give quests and the more things you do for them the more that gets unlocked including exclusive moves. I do not know if they are unlocked for purchase or if they are simple earned and do not need to be bought.
They can also show up and assist you during story missions or power up attacks in those missions.
Money, unlocked accessories, and even moves seem like they carry over between characters as well.
>>193184 You can only have 12 mentors at a time, but your mentor unlock things go to all your characters so no need to worry about grinding Goku more than once for instance.
Also some mentors are apparently very rare to encounter and will randomly spawn in the HUB city (or so it seems). Bills is among this rare breed with Goku being more uncommon.
>>193190 Common sense says the circles are some kind of loyalty level and when the bar fills up, you have completed that level and will move onto the next.
While streaming animation, Persona confirmed that Robo-Fortune has lasers (probably making use of Mikes modification to the engine to allow for true beams). So get ready for beam assists with Peacock on point and Double anchors. RIP everyone and everything. Robo now used more for just her assists than Double used to be used for an anchor. Calling it.
They also recorded and crowdsorced a crowd for some voice work on what's probably Beos arena stage. Also Beos voice actor was revealed as were Robos remaining normals and a first look at one of her mechanics.
>Robo-Fortune - Hey look, it's Robo-Fortune! She has all her normals and both ground and air throws, so here she is! Welcome her with open arms and cynical nitpicking of everything, like usual. :^)
>General - Removed non-interpolated rendering of opponent characters during super flashes on PC only. It's still there on consoles because it helps framerate, and has been there since the beginning.
>Beowulf - Two new colors! Since I already said what they were, I won't repeat myself here. ;^) - Moonsault wolves are now behind Beowulf; also fixed the lifebar not displaying health chunks for the first 3 hits. Thanks Kalaner! - Improved effect for Blitzer, thanks Brian! - Added missing frame for the end of taunt and command grab whiff. - Fixed odd bug where if you successfully hit with Moonsault, it prevented Beowulf's team from being able to DHC into Airwulf for the rest of the game (unless you whiffed with another Moonsault). Thanks Sweetyfluff!
>Double - Monster's puddle is now placed 180px in front of Double; attack startup from puddle after detecting opponent 9f -> 4f; detection area slightly smaller, attack area remains the same size.
>Eliza - s.LP opponent knockup height returned to normal, hitstun still shorter. - For Dive of Horus, Horace does not stop if Eliza is hit when she is the point character. He still stops if she is hit when she is an assists. 50% 66% scaling on hit still present. - Fix bug where Throne of Isis sometimes wouldn't appear even though Eliza does the pose. Just summoning the attack was being counted as hitting with it. Thanks BDetective! - Damage adjustments: -- j.LK, s.HPx3 last hit (knockdown version), c.HK, all -150. -- j.MK, s.HK 2nd hit, s.MK 3rd hit, all -100. -- s.LK, c.LK, c.MK both hits, s.MKx2 chop, s.MP, all -50. -- j.HK -25. -- Sekhmet j.M -300, s.H -200, j.H -250. Sample combo difference specifically using only the most-nerfed moves: Sekhmet corner j.M->s.H, s.H, j.M->s.H, jump, falling j.L->j.M->s.H, s.M(all hits)->H, s.Lx3->M(all hits)->H = 9591->8088.
>Fukua - Damage adjustments: -- j.HK dmg 750->500, extra damage scaling removed. -- (j.HK->)HP dmg 700->500. -- j.HP dmg 900->800. -- s.MP, c.MP, s.MK damage now all 550.
>Painwheel - Unfly command returned to 2 punches / PP. Nobody really liked the other way, myself included.
>>193317 The game has sales almost weekly on Steam. Just keep your eyes on the twitter. It's very easy to get the characters for under $2 if you wait. And $5 is still better than ArcSys (for instance) which tend to charge around $8 a character.
>>193348 Last /co/ saw of those two was that he had turned them into catgirls instead for a project that's totally not like 85% inspired by CoC. Also he said DBZ was stupid (and he's right, but it's part of the charm) so he's trying to distance things a bit. Instead he'll probably ignore it and just draw more Katia after Kaz hospitalizes himself opening a bag of bread and misses two more months of updates.
>>193397 Xenoverse looks a lot better than Budokai 3.
Also this new game is developed by ArcSys so that's a plus. If it ever does get translated, I'll probably pick it up. The 3DS could really use a good handheld fighter. Last one Nintendo had was Bleach: Dark Souls.
>>193406 I don't know why but the character concepts behind Xbone Killer Instinct remind me of Darkstalkers, what with stuff like firebeings, zombies, werewolves, and ghost chicks.
Because I’m a blind fucking idiot who needs a good fist to the face, here’s the new SFV trailer and the news about its online beta in the right thread:
>[W]e will be performing the largest and most ambitious online beta program in franchise history with Street Fighter V on PS4 and PC! These tests will be essential to collect your feedback and to ensure that Street Fighter V is the best iteration yet. In North America, players who pre-order the game will automatically be enrolled into the beta program. More details, including timing on the beta program will be revealed in the future so stay tuned for updates.
>>193462 He's the guy whose death basically starts Street Fighter, it's like Coulson dying in The Avengers, it's the death that glues a unified force against Bison together, he's Guile's trainer and though he was never actually in the games he was a top seed in the universe.
For example Bison, the main villain uses a bunch of science and magic to be one of the most powerful guys in the universe....Charlie could beat him with kicks, but (depending on which version) he is killed through an act deception by Bison and dies a hero which guides Guile to follow in his path.
To have him brought back as a subservient Frankenstein to use against Guile is like an ultimate "FUCK YOU" from Bison (at least I assume it's Bison who resurrected him.)
>>193466 It kinda should, it's Charlie as a Frankenstein, if he looked like a million bucks after be dead for, what 10 years plus? it would be extra lame.
And that’s assuming Bison brought him back (which the trailer’s stinger would seem to hint at). The jewel in Charlie’s forehead makes me think there's a connection to the Illuminati—and thus to Gill.
>>193467 Except he looks JUST THE SAME except for the dumb blue chunk of his face and the the silly staples between them, you can't claim his body has rotted when that's the case.
Ok so Xenoverse... haven't had a chance to play it yet since I'm still trying to hunt down an operating system for my new PC, but there are some things already emerging... first you collect all 7 then use that table http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?p=5580578#5580578 to freeze materials/items and you can wish over and over without losing your balls
Protip for Mentors; watch these: http://www.saiyanisland.com/2015/02/dragon-ball-xenoverse-learn-moves-with-masters-do-more-damage-with-z-assist/
Also you'll need to use their most recentl given skill a few times in battle before you can move on (this doesn't seem to apply for their special evasive skills though). You'll also want to to Parallel missions using them as an ally. Do all this and you should be able to easily rank up with your mentors.
I've been grinding for a couple of days now, fighting countless time patrol members, and they still aren't dropping the last dragonball I need, only those shitty Bonus Badges. Is something stopping them from dropping the 1 Star Ball in my save or what?
>>193647 Are you grinding the same missions? I could swear I heard that the balls all have to come from different missions. There was a guy I was watching stream and he kept getting balls, but I guess they were all the same 4 balls so they didn't stack in his inventory or something.
Are you just missing the One Star and are getting non One Star balls or are balls just not dropping?
>>193651 Balls just aren't dropping at all, only the badges to be sold for cash. I've been mainly doing the stage where you have 5 minutes to beat freiza before namek explodes and if you beat him fast enough a time patrol guy shows up but I've been getting the same result on other stages, not to mention there's been one or two times where the CPU assistant has gotten the last hit on the patrol member and I've only gotten one badge too.
>Playing Ginyu Force on Earth mission >Oh hey sweet a time patroller >Beat his ass with ease >Get goodies >Proceed to get three moves and an equip >Have my ass savagely beat by Ginyu and die >"No biggie, I'll get rezed" >Goku is literally just floating there 10 feet away not doing anything while Piccolo gets his ass beat and dies >Goku attempts to then res Piccolo, gets beaten off, then comes over to me >Dies right next to me >Lose it all
Fast forward to later that night >Mentor under Vegeta and grind him to max >Final mission >Doing well >SSJ >Ok fine, get a little beaten down, but I've got thi- >SSJ2 >Full health >Un targets >Get comboed to death for free in 10 hits >Ok fuck, now I know >Restart >itkeepshappening.jpg >He's even using SSJ spam >Ok Time to finally use items >One of each healing item >Still get stompped >Ok ok ok... fuck. It's ok, I have a hidden power up in my pocket. >Dip into my pool of 66 skill points >Drop like 12 into my stats >Still get mud stompped >Level up twice just from ass beatings >I've been at this single thing for over an hour >ONE. MORE. TIME. >Proceed to perfect Vegeta up until SSJ2 where he starts doing spam, but manage my Ki and Stamina well >Lands a fist clash thing twice. Epic as shit >My basic Ki blasts cut through his ki blast spams >Stuns due to Frieza >Start opening up cans of whoopass with Weekend Destroyer or whatever (some Raditz move that makes a purple explosion and stuns) >Launch from that into juggle combos >Land meaty combos and then go into resets >Rinse and repeat >NOWWERETALKEN.swf >Vegeta calls off the ass beating and quits mid combo >Rage
Thank you you smug son of a bitch... you taught me how to git gud.
Xenoverse is great but the later missions putting you against multiple opponents who can all spam their ultimates freely is retarded.
Hand to hand becomes pointless, might as well respec and put all my points into ki blasts and spam back if I want to actually finish stages in any decent time, ar at all against some of them.
>>193661 Hmm... Best I can say is to make sure you land he last bit on the time cop. The game tends to prevent you from getting goodies when a computer does something instead of the player. Same sort of thing happens occasionally if an NPC kills off an enemy needed to trigger a "Warning" extra.
Also holy duck balls things just don't drop. I spent over three hours farming godamn cibamen trying to get the last skill needed to have all the 1 stars. The long grinds missions are the worst since they take forever and drops are uncommon in them to start with. It's akin to torture.
Actually starting to get worn down. I just can't deal with grinding the same mission for hours for a single drop that can only be triggered on an ultimate finish that never seems to trigger even through you do everything needed for it.
This all wouldn't be so bad if I could at least get into an online fight or team up.
>>193739 Is it stupid of me to be a little bit bummed that there are so many returning characters? I guess I just want them to start revealing new characters as opposed to confirming old ones.
That being said, the game still looks awesome and Daddy Cage's design is great.
>>193740 Nope. I was hoping they'd pull a Third Strike here, but they're throwing in quite a few returning characters to I guess keep the game feeling like Mortal Kombat and bring in that brand recognition that those characters have. IE "no Reptile no buy"
Find it hard to care about the story of mortal kombat with the level of bullshit its reached.
Even in the last installment which was supposed to be cutting out the fat and chaff with a time travel retcon it got really stupid, everyone being jobbed and then Raiden thinking it was a great plan to try making a deal to sell the souls of those who trusted him to Quan Chi.
>>193775 I knew it was going to happen, but I was hoping they would have waited until MK13 to do it. Can't get hype until I see gameplay though. His simplistic character design is going to feel really out of place in MK I think, just like how Freddy was last game and boy howdy did it not make sense for him to be there. Not to mention they totally dropped the ball on his moveset. "Hey here's a guy that is some sort of ghost that exists in dreems and murders teens there by warming and twisting himself and the dreamworld... ok now lets put him in MK and just have him throw claw glove projectiles."
So the dlc pack for Xenoverse just added two new mentors, and I still have 3 1/2 off the base game mentors still to train. Its just using the techniques they give you and choosing them as support characters in Parallel Quests that raises their friendship right?
How rare is Beerus as a mentor? I saw him in passing but didn't talk to him since I was still in the middle of learning from cell, did I just pass up a gift from god and will be lucky to see him again any time soon?
>>193787 >How rare is Beerus as a mentor? I saw him in passing but didn't talk to him since I was still in the middle of learning from cell nigga you dun fucked up, but cell's kind of rare too...
For mentor grinding, you don't even need the mentor with you, just score well on the quests. Bringing your mentor may raise their approval of you slightly higher, but I don't think its been proven yet. They do seem to gravitate towards you more and help knock off enemies attacking you or double team more frequently than normal however. They'll also give you Z boosts once in a while if you max them out.
As for using their skills, aside from evasive moves, you absolutely need to do that. I had 18 at max for the longest time and she wouldn't let me do her last mission, then I decided to just spam her latest attack a lot and eventually it opened up.
>>193807 While you can't change the physical appearance of your characters or their stats without dragon balls, you can at least save costumes and move sets as presets you can pick from for each character.
>>193810 I'm aware you can have multiple costumes/movelists per character it isn't really helpful (and I already mess around using them anyway. I want to make at least 8+ more characters from scratch, including different bodies and names.
>>193854 Looking up to such badly written characters as representative of the journey of your race through history seems somewhat self-insulting though
Saiyans are quite frankly shit, especially Goku who is just a terrible character in Z that doesn't deserve to steal the spotlight back from every younger fighter who was supposed to surpass him and take over the role as protector of Earth.
>>193854 Uh, seeing as the original Saiyan race was portrayed as a group of cruel and barbaric imperialists, not to mention the atavistic simian motif, that might not be the most flattering comparison to make.
Godamn what is with the Japanese cramming as much shit as possible into such a small space for all their advertising? And while the outtro wasn't on the TV spot, you should never make it longer than the actual video I mean come on.
>>194133 ...The Fuck are you talking about? Are you forgetting that the roster is 3X larger since each character has 3 movesets? How in the fuck is that a pitiful display?
>>194134 They were touting that there would be a lot of mew characters and all that, but the bulk are returning. As for being 3x larger due to 3 styles... not buying that. It's a difference of a slightly altered costume and damage plus and minus an attack or two.
This is amazing, it's exactly why you want someone like Max in your stable. "HOLY SHIT, EVERYONE HATES CINDER'S FACE, WE NEED TO PR OUT OF THIS! Quick somebody show Max the new design, he'll get hyped and show everyone how cool the new design is."
But yeah this is much better as is the new mask having no visible mask which is great.
Mortal Kombat was a bigger figure in American fighting games than Street Fighter for maybe all of five minutes back in the nineties. In America, and nowhere else.
>>194224 In the 90's. But MK 9 and X are miles better than what the first 3 games ever did. I would also argue they're better, and more satisfying fighters than Street Fighter 4 or MvC 3.
>with Street Fighter 5, we have a fantastic opportunity to create something with a larger scope, a game that encompasses all that Street Fighter has become in the last few years, but which also expands on that to become something it has never been before as well. So now we want to create something that nobody is expecting. It’s going to be a title that caters to fans, of course, but one that also invites completely new players onto the scene. Street Fighter 4 was about reviving a passion. Street Fighter 5 is about growing that passion.”
NRS, you likely knew people would get pissed off at you for all that microtransaction shit, and you did it anyway. I gotta hand you the Johnny Cage Brass Balls Award for that.
>>194322 I never thought Mortal Kombat of all series would communicate issues like homosexuality with nuance. Especially when you compare that to Dragon Age which does an admirable job on some issues but is hamfisted to high hell when it comes to characters like Dorian.
Huh. Well, that’s awesome. And NRS handled it with class and respect. And no ‘even for Mortal Kombat’ snipe here—they handled it better than a lot of other games/franchises have. (Now I half-expect Street Fighter V to add a gay character and somehow blatantly call attention to the fact.)
>>194326 Apparently for SF5 Capcom consulted with some trans groups on how to present Poison tastefully this time around. No idea if they they pulled it off well or not though.
>>194327 Oh thats really cool of them. Aesthetically she's always been a pretty good fit with the rest of the Capcom titles of the sort so I don't think they're gonna suddenly dress her like a nun if anyone's concerned with that.
I think it all comes down to not doing the whole >S-SHE USED TO BE A MAN?! *GULP* >*puuuuke*
Yeah, that's kinda what happened in SFxT’s early stages. From the SF Wiki:
>In early developments of Street Fighter X Tekken, footage was shown of Ryu and Chun-Li's win quotes to Poison (i.e. "Your looks really can be deceiving. I'll be careful not to fall into your trap" and "You're not very lady-like at all! I felt like I was fighting against a guy..." respectively). Other characters were later revealed to have quotes along the same lines, some even worse, including Kuma outright saying Poison smells like a man and doubting she's in any way a woman. Sometime after the footage was shown, a prominent LGBT rights group contacted Capcom about the dialog, stating that it was highly offensive, ignorant and insensitive towards trans individuals. Capcom agreed to change the quotes, leaving only Yoshimitsu's remark about her being a "freshly-recruited kunoichi", Craig Marduk's more vague comment that he doesn't sweat the small stuff and only cares that she's attractive, and Poison's mirror match quote where she tries to recall a song, "The something-or-other in the mirror", referencing Michael Jackson's "The Man in the Mirror."
>>194327 Street fighter is a game of stereotypes. This PC shit is getting out of hand. poison was fine as is, but I'm ready for full on ham handedness now. Funny that she should get special treatment while say T. hawk is apparently totally fine along with DJ.
>>194332 Naw, while those two are made of potentially offensive stereotypes nobody gives them shit in-universe and their traits aren't used to demean them, whereas for Poison it's not just the players but even the characters who tend to be "ewwww she has/had a dick gross" or "she's not really a woman" which is pretty closeminded stuff. A better comparison would've been if Deejay was like Sambo or if characters called him a lazy darkie after fighting her, or if male characters freaked out over Eagle supposedly hitting on them. I do agree T. Hawk needs to be changed though, quite a few Indigenous Americans and Mexicans can't stand him for a long time. Most Jamaicans I know are pretty cool with Deejay though.
Political correctness is for politicians. For everyone else, it's called "not being an asshole".
The whole "Poison's not a real woman" is the kind of shit transgendered people (as a whole group) face every day. Capcom recognizing that and pulling back on those types of lines in SFxT was a welcome gesture towards that particular community. Remember, they could've done away with all the hints of her (still canonically questionable) transgender status and had everyone refer to her in ways that didn’t even hint at her gender.
As for Dee Jay and T. Hawk: Dee Jay is an edge case (and >>194334 already explained why), though I'd agree that T. Hawk is far more of a broadly-drawn stereotype and needs an overhaul. But even so, that is Capcom's call to make, not mine. While I'd love to see a bit more cultural sensitivity on their part, I also understand that my desires alone won't trump Capcom’s design decisions. An organized effort to make Capcom change any character—from T. Hawk to Poison—would need to happen for any change to occur.
It’d be one thing if it was just a single character who was a known asshole that was mocking Poison's gender status. But when you have two of the franchise’s ‘heroes’ doing it, you really gotta wonder why that's necessary.
>>194332 >Street fighter is a game of stereotypes. Thus >Aesthetically she's always been a pretty good fit with the rest of the Capcom titles of the sort
Stereotypes are one thing, but even black characters in SF aren't treated with blackface or such. And besides, if you really want to look at it right, T. Hawk could've possibly portrayed one of the northern native tribes such as the Tarahumaras, thus breaking the stereotype of Mexico's only natives being Mayans/Aztecs, given the northern part of that country was anthropologically very similar to America's south western native tribes. But then again, its not like it's not a stereotype either way. Apparently racial controversy gets ignored when it helps complain about another controversy.
Is there any way at all to make more than the current maximum of custom fighters in Xenoverse?
I'm loving this character creator so much, have a bunch more ideas for them.
They might as well have made the actual fighters nonplayable and given you all the slots for customs, they are so much better to play as than the default series characters.
>>194343 So far 8 is the most you can have and with the ability to save costume and move sets to swap between characters, that's all I find that I'm really needing.
I will say that I wish there was a bettwe way to reset your stats though or at least change your stats based on your costume/ move selection presets you make. Collecting the dragon balls just to switch back and forth from making my Frieza a melee rushdown to a midrange comboer is pretty annoying.
>>194348 Half of the characters they will have sold us if this holds up will be clones unless they make some substantial changes to Roy which I doubt they'd do since Lucas seems to be very much the same as he was in Brawl and Mewtwo with a few minor improvements to his move functions maintains everything from Melee.
>>194349 I imagine all the missing Brawl characters could come back. Brawl and Sm4sh are very similar, so porting would be really easy. That they already have Lucas footage is good evidence.
>>194348 Not him, but I really don't see the point in bringing Roy back. I mean, we already have a Marth clone with Lucina, why add another? I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering we had two different Fox clones in Brawl, but still.
>>194346 Its not enough when you love making custom characters, setting alternate movesets & costumes for the 8 characters it lets you make so far isn't enough.
>>194376 NRS has been knocking it out of the park with the character designs lately. I'll admit I actually kind of enjoyed a lot of the oversexualized female designs in MK9 because they were so hilariously shameless and over-the-top, but it's great that the women finally get to wear outfits as badass-looking as the menfolk's now.
>>194391 And have central story roles, MKX is baffling because aside from the gory fight mechanics it has one of the best presentations in Fighting Games, characters with subtle sexualities, clear motives, important roles for female characters, ultra clean hud, etc.
>>194391 >I'll admit I actually kind of enjoyed a lot of the oversexualized female designs in MK9 because they were so hilariously shameless and over-the-top, but it's great that the women finally get to wear outfits as badass-looking as the menfolk's now.
I didn't really hit me until story mode, when I saw Sonya wear the same cleavage outfite from MK9 and how vastly different her appearance was in X.
>>194546 Interesting. Does that mean they were going to do but didn't but the leftover data is still there, or is it just a coincidence it does those things.
I didn't used to get what people meant by octagonal vs round gates, but every once in a while I'll try to do an attack and it'll go in the wrong direction and now I understand.
http://skullgirls.com/2015/04/skullgirls-2nd-encores-new-features/ Also Robo Fortune is like 98% finished and just needs a little more balancing. She even has all her moves, colored frames, and voice lines.
>>194575 Oh lighten up, it's all been leading up to that single moment. For YEARS. And now this single beautiful moment will be lost like tears in the rain...
Ok guys. Guys. I've been talking to the Skullgirls guys. They've finally given me the greenlight and the ok to tell you guys that TeethandHunger will be a playable fighter in the Skullgirls game. totally not a late April Fools joke Ok, now let me tell you about the story. So one day T.Hunger comes across the body of some orphans killed by the slavers. Needing fresh heads to speak with (perhaps even feeling sorry for them), Hunger takes the freshest heads and attaches them to a slimy, tongue like organ. That organ connects directly to the monsters brain. The "tongue" semi-revives three heads, and Hunger is able to speak. The drawback is that TeethandHunger gets strong urges from the three heads. The urge to find their friends. Acting on these feelings (pitying the three perhaps) walks toward the bright lights of the city along with Bob, the giant who lives inside T.Hunger.
Once you finish the storyline, you unlock a NEW ONE! YUP, those guys fucking love so much that wrote up a whole new one. With a different model too. Shown in the next post. Ok, this might all be a late april fools gag
Yep! Miss Fortune and I get team up in this storyline! Those nasty gangster got the jump on her and made off with her body. Unfortunately for them her head rolled into the alley that TeethandHunger was passing though. Not wanting to pass up a good head (because random severed heads rolling around is actually a common thing where Teeth is from) pick her up and attaches her to the tongue. T. Hunger is suddenly confused by the fact that not only can he not speak, but the head is now talking on it's own. Miss Fortune has taken parshel control of Hunger's body and can also hear his thoughts. The two come to terms on this arrangement quickly as the gangsters come to claim the head of Miss Fortune. The unlikely two delver Monstrous PUN-isment to the no good gangsters. Seeing a retreat is in order the remaining thugs run off with Miss Fortune's body. Having survived the Head and the monster have a chat. They come to an agreement: Retrieve Miss Fortune's body, eat anyone who gets in their way, and make puns. Make puns everywhere!
The Skullgirls creators are going to bring back the voice actress for this. Redoing all Hungers lines in her voice. I wish. Happy late april/may fools day. Maybe one day guys. Maybe one day.
I REALLY hope he has a "Kane Hodder in The New Blood Costume", I fucking HATE Reboot Jason where he just looks like a dude instead of an unstoppable tabula rasa poltergeist revenant possessing the flesh of his long dead corpse which has mutated through numerous evil magics of resurrection to match his age and malice.
>>194731 Come one Tiki it's not like Jason started as a the revenant you describe, until part 3 he WAS just a guy, the reboot (which I found perfectly okay, not the best but also not the worst entry in the series) did not made up that.
Technically, it was likely 6 that made Jason an undead revenant. From 2 to 4, he was just a guy who could withstand a hellacious amount of punishment. 6 was where Tommy Jarvis spiked a dead Jason in the chest and a bolt of lightning took care of the rest.
(Personally? I was kinda hoping NRS would give him an Über-Jason costume for shits and giggles. Though I suppose the “take the mask off and drop it to the ground” win animation would’ve run into problems there.)
>>194739 Six is when he gets that shock therapy courtesy of dumbass Tommy and truly becomes superhuman, but a number of fans (myself included) count the end of part three as the last we see of a living Jason, his wound being too great to be surviivable untreated, and being obviously declared dead by the police.
I honestly think that not giving him at least one other movie's Jason look as a costume was a missed opportunity.
I'm wondering if it's some sort of distribution rights or other such nonsense issue. Like, "Oh, (Insert company here) had the DVD and likeness rights for Jason X, so he can't get a costume from that because they wanted money, but the original was okay."
>>194809 If all her main parts fly with levitation stuff, I guess it makes sense to have her body look like it relies on the same levitation power to at partly support its weight.
>>194736 >>194739 >>194740 Well now that he's out and awful and I was right cuz he's BORING AS SHIT.
But just to address this, Jason is a revenant the entire series, the dream from the first movie is psychic warning Jason is about to be resurrected, canonically he drowns as a child and is resurrected by his father whom he immediately killed for abandoning him and his mother, a side effect of his resurrection is having aged and further deformed into adulthood.
Now they cut this from the part 2 and just left it a "mystery" as to how he survives dying from drowning as a child to come back in part 2 because they wanted it more about the kills, but this is all still canon and from the official comics, it's Jason's father who builds the shrine to his wife's head.
Jason cannot be killed, even after the damage Tommy inflicted he was alive, just dormant, even if Tommy hadn't caused his electo-ressurection which beefed him up he'd have still resurrected eventually.
>>194899 Functionally, they made Jason into a fantastic fighting game character, especially for Mortal Kombat. Interesting mechanics, great moves, and pretty good balance overall. It sounds like what you want is Fanservice: The Character; you want references and callbacks that realistically could get in the way of being a viable character to just play as. Which is fine to think so, your opinion is your own after all.
>>194901 >>194906 I just don't think they succeeded with the character at all, he feels like he needs more time in the oven especially, but I will concede it's a step up from Freddy who might as well have been a character skin.
>>194882 >canonically he drowns as a child and is resurrected by his father whom he immediately killed for abandoning him and his mother
Hmmm you are taking a comic as canon, one that pulled out of it's ass that Jason's dad was part of a lineage of warlocks and that he owned the Necronomicon. I've read some of the novelizations to the movies, and the one based on Jason Lives does have his dad showing up, and the old man was unaware of all the weird shit going on with his stranged son.
Also, take a close look at Bison in the trailer. He's got white/grey hair. Perhaps all the body transfers are finally taking its toll on his soul and it's reflecting upon his body.
>>194905 Is tekken yoshimitsu just supposed to be an alien that inherited the sword or is that just the kind of extreme malfestation that happens to you if you don't protect yourself from the demon sword by replacing your sword arm with a robot arm like the soul calibur yoshimitsus do.
GET READY FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGER. From EventHubs:
>The next character reveal likely won't be coming from Street Fighter 4 according to a recent Tweet from Street Fighter 5's producer, Yoshinori Ono. In it, he states that the new character is someone we haven't seen for a while. That knocks out a ton of options, and leads into the hype of looking at other Street Fighter Alpha characters or Street Fighter 3 characters making an appearance. It might even mean the release of a fighter from the first game.

>>195732 Oh hey the thing people guessed about when Mewtwo came out turned out to be right. Shame about ANOTHER FUCKING CLONE, but at least we get Ryu out of it.
>>195742 Probably a counter. Seems to be the default when they can't think of something.
>>195741 Ryu seems a bit out of place with his character model (yes, more than Snake), but at least he's not the second clone of another character. The gall they have adding Fire Marth as paid DLC, with no customs to boot, is astounding.
>>195748 Ehhh sort of. It's based on how far away you are from the target. The dragon punch is if you're close and looks to be able to KO in the mid 50's and the Hadoken looks really shit and trigges if you're far away.
Apparently Roy has unique tilts now and retains his old arcing swing for his neutral B rather than the others thrusts so at least that's something.
>>195758 Holy hell Ryu is far more complex than I could have hoped for. If Shulk is any indication though he'll be top tier... but then again he has the shitty normal range of Mac...
The range of the Hadouken looks phenomenal - further than at least Mario and Luigi's projectiles, judging from that video of his gameplay - so he's got that working for him. Some of his attacks look like they'll make up for the range issue with sheer brute force, too (e.g. the Joudan Sokutogeri).
>People are complaining about how hard it is to do a Hadoken >"These inputs are too complicated!" >I share a planet with people who think a quarter circle is a complex and difficult input
Smash isn't geared towards the type of people who would normally play Street Fighter, so to those people, a quarter-circle IS something of a complex and difficult input. It's not really fair to mock them because they didn't master the goddamn Hadouken at the age of ten.
>>195769 Sorry, but if you have working thumbs and think that a quarter circle is difficult and you're over the age of 4, you deserve to be mocked. It has nothing to do with fighting games. It is a single baby step above holding a direction and pushing a button like every other smash character does already.
Back when I was a kid, my parents used to play vidyagaems with me and my brother. They even played Street Fighter II with us a few times. I tried to teach them the Hadouken motion, and they just couldn't ever make it stick. They were both well over four years old, and they both had working hands.
So do my parents deserve to be mocked for being unable to "master" the quarter-circle motion?
>>195771 My grandmother, parents and 7 year old niece all know how to do it and picked it up pretty quick, so I'm going to say yes. "Just do a quarter circle forward. Hit down then roll forward until its a hard right or left depending on where you're facing" for my grandmother, the arrows on the front of an arcade cabinet where enough for my parents, and my niece had the benefit of info graphics showing you how being in the game when she first picked up UMvC3
So you’re fine with mocking people that have little-to-no experience playing fighting games not getting the concept of the quarter-circle motion or being unable to do it consistently? Shit, I know the Shoryuken motion by heart, and even I don't land it every time I try it—do I deserve to be called names and mocked for my lack of "mastery"?
If you wonder why the Fighting Game Community has a bad reputation, think about how you’d honestly answer those questions.
>>195775 Dragon Punch is far far different than a quarter circle and even pros will flub the input from time to time. The problem for me is that I simply cannot understand how anyone at all can ever say that a quarter circle motion is difficult or at least complain about it to such a degree as the smash community is as though it was dialed combos in MK or even the pretzel motion. As stated earlier I have seen people from all walks of life and all age groups quickly pick it up and figure it out so I cannot see how anyone can ever say that the quarter circle is a complex motion to make.
>$3.99 (Mewtwo) + $3.99 (Lucas) + $3.99 (Roy) + $5.99 (Ryu) = $17.96 + $18.52 (cost of all Mii Costumes) + $3.98 (DLC stages) = $40.46 plus applicable taxes This shit is adding up quick
>>195786 That sounds like hipster trash talk. "Oh, you bought your coffee table from Ikea? Yeah, I built mine from driftwood using a handsaw. I guess it's a little too complicated for some people but if you REALLY care about your furniture..."
I mean seriously, fuck off with that. No one thinks you're impressive because you can play video games better than six year olds or little old grannies. You get enjoyment out games like that, and that's fantastic. But it is in no way something worthy of jockeying for status over.
>>195786 It's a fucking quarter circle motion, a simple swing of your thumb, something that has been used by fighting games since ever. That's like, the most anti-hipster thing I can't think of, something so common and normal that it would be ridiculous to call it "obscure" as the whole hipster cliche goes. And I think you are missing out the little detail that plenty of Smash fans (and I do play Smash, I am one of them, not a "jock") obssess over the old argument of Smash's status as a "real" fighting game, so it is funny that when prompted over what's normalt fighting game inputs they get lost. That you are getting up in arms, getting so mad, trying to argue that a quarter of circle motion is complicated and complex, and seeing it as some sort of witch hunt against the poor Smash fans (of which again, I am one, but I can see the hilarity of the situation) that in reality it's just some laughs at the expense of an ironic situation, is madness to me.
You’re mocking people—either for not being able to do a joystick motion consistently or for not having experience with doing the motion at all, but you’re doing it. And you’re acting like you’re better than the Smash fans who are having trouble with performing the inputs. And that isn’t making you look like anything but a douchebag.
I’ve played fighting games ever since I could put a quarter into a Street Fighter II machine (and even before that if you count Yie Ar Kung Fu and International Karate as fighting games). I went from never getting the Hadouken motion right to pulling it off consistently (enough)—and that was after months of on/off playing SFII in the arcade. And yeah, I have sympathy for the people who think the QCF is “difficult” because I didn’t immediately get it, either. So you’d do well to cool it on making yourself sound better than the people who don’t get the QCF, be a little more welcoming and helpful towards people who want to learn how it’s done, and be a little less willing to laugh at them because they don’t know how to do a goddamn joystick motion (or at least do it consistently).
>>195840 >plenty of Smash fans [...] obssess over the old argument of Smash's status as a "real" fighting game
Probably only a select few elitist that need approval from the KoF crowd, I'm guessing. Or whoever it is calls Skullgirls the My Little Pony of fighting games.
>>195841 Why does it matter who it's coming from? You're still acting like you're better than other people because of how easy you find QCF. Even if it's a 25 year old hardcore gamer who would find the game more appealing without having to put in QCF motions, why are they not allowed to feel that way in your mind?
None of these people, but I kind of have to agree. The (small) handful of people whining on a few smash forums do deserve to be mocked a bit if they can't do such a basic input.
I think a lot of the "outrage" people are having here stems from the fact that the people ribbing those who can't Hadoken is that they are seeing what they feel. The casuilization of Fighting Games. Or rather who companies like Capcom and others seem to focus on when they want to make fighters "more accessible" such as the auto block gem debacle in SFxT.
There is a skill gap involved in fighters to be certain and the very first gate is execution. however for simple motions most everyone can do a simple quarter circle as discussed and making fun of those who can't figure it out is, in my opinion, on the level of making fun of people who can't figure out that you need to jump over goombas.
It's funny for a minute, then it just gets sad. In a world that is rapidly becoming so godamn PC about everything, it's important to realize that there are things out there deserving of a good ribbing and this is one of them.
and it's not like they can't just use regular smash commands with him anyway, he just gets better if you can clear the super small execution gap he has.
Political correctness is for politicians. For everyone else, it’s called NOT BEING AN ASSHOLE. You wanna be an asshole? Don’t be shocked when someone tells you that you’re acting like one.
The “outrage” stems from people like you and the guy justifying your mockery by essentially saying “these people don’t speak my language”. When it comes to games, each genre has its own “language”—be it specific lingo or controller motions or whatever. If you mocked a relative newbie to FPS games for not being able to do something “basic”—something that’s so second nature to seasoned FPS players that they barely think about it—you’re doing the same thing as mocking fighting game newbies for not “getting” the QCF.
And I chose the language analogy specifically because this feels similar to a native English speaker mocking someone who doesn’t speak English well and struggles to pronounce even basic words we don’t think twice about saying every day. The mockery comes from a place of ego: you mastered it and can do it without thinking twice, so why can’t these worthless chumps?
That’s why I have a problem with mocking Smash players who don’t/can’t get the QCF: maybe they want to try and get it, but all you’ve given them is scorn and derision—rather than, you know, a fucking chance to learn. You say all this crap about the casualization of fighting games as if Smash is the future of ALL fighting games, when you know that isn’t true in the slightest. It’s all a way for you to continually mock Smash fans for playing “Babby’s First Fighting Game” and feel superior about how you know all the latest SF4 tech and how you can keep up with Mahvel 3 commentary at EVO.
You don’t want to help Smash players learn and get better and maybe lean them into “better” fighting games. You want to feel smug about something so basic being second nature to you. That you mock people for what you perceive as an “entry level” part of the fighting game “language” says far, far more about you and your ego than it ever will about Smash players or the “casualization” of fighting games. If this is how the rest of the FGC reacts to “casual” Smash players, I’d rather hang out with the “casual” Smash players and have fun.
People like you make me ashamed to call myself a fighting game fan.
>>195897 I'm excited. He looks cool still, despite being out of shape. I guess I'm just happy that there's more than just Bison's grey hair (I thought he had new forever young bodies to swap into?) that indicates age, considering that Ryu, Chun-Li, and Cammy specifically, barely look a few years older than 4, let alone 3.
I want them to be far more daring with the designs. I know these are the money making iconic darlings, but absolutely NO ONE would be upset if we got Gouken Aged One Armed Post Oro Ryu, yknow.
>If you’ve seen recent Street Fighter V footage from E3 you’ve probably noticed something a little different about Chun Li. People are remarking that because Chun Li’s breasts act as if they were made out of jello, Street Fighter has gone “full Dead or Alive” in the upcoming sequel.
>This is not actually the case, though! Fighting game commentator James Chen reports that Chun Li’s absurd breast physics are actually a bug. Capcom associate producer Peter Rosas confirmed this peculiar hiccup to me this morning.
>“The whole Chun-Li jiggle thing is a glitch that only happens on the second player side of the E3 build and it will be fixed,” Rosas said.
