>>189201 So instead of sticking with sprites because they were gorgeous, or follow Street Fighter/Guilty Gear and go 2.5, there going to continue to fail to copy Tekken?
>>189282 At least his U.B seems less bullshit now. No word on mashable tornado spam yet though.
>>189283 Sakurai likes his pet franchises. like how Paulina gets to be her own special snowflake with 12 completely different moves to pick from and the tons of KI items Best Buy players reported encountering. Kirby probably shouldn't have gotten 3 reps and Space Animals should have only gotten 1, but this is what it is and we'll all have to deal with more horrible metsknight shit.
>>189292 Kirby absolutely deserves 3 reps, and Starfox isn't a Sakurai franchise. We joke about pets and it's somewhat true, but Meta Knight just being present is a plus.
>>189352 Ummmm, i love Max and Lara's probably not gonna be in it but he is DEAD FUCKING WRONG, The Tomb Raider Reboot had more horrible deaths THAN ANY MORTAL KOMBAT EVER and the entire reboot franchise is based around the premise of her being injured and required to injure others.
90% of the mortal kombat roster died horribly in 9, twice.
Its just a bad series, the writing is bad even slightly beyond the average of fighting games, and its not like the gamplay is that great. Also does anyone feel like the X-ray attacks are a dumb gimmick? Its like they are trying too hard to shock people because the franchise is so very tired.
I've never been a huge MK fan (never liked the gameplay), but yeah, the X-ray attacks seem like non-lethal mid-match Fatalities that do nothing to affect the overall metagame of a match.
I'd be fine if MKX was the last one because the franchise doesn't have legs any more. (I'd say the same for Ultra Street Fighter IV and Tekken 7, too.)
>>189381 I don't see X-ray moves being all that different from the Supers or Ultras of other games. Sure, they're overtly flashy, but that's MK; Over-the-top everything. But really, if it's not your bag, that's all cool too.
>Ghirahim >Assist Trophy >Completely missing out on the opportunity for a Demise Smash Oh well, he would have probably been a clone of Link anyway despite his magic.
Also, should there be a Smash general, seeing as For 3DS is coming out in less than two months?
I'm not a fighting game fan but I tend to get very interested in the lore/characters (even though after awhile it tends to get super convoluted, error-filled and dumb overall in a long running fighter series)
For instance recently I've gotten really into the story of skullgirls and the background non-playable characters, but I'm not really able to play it at all. I've basically absorbed all the plot info thats around but most people are more interested in talking about the mechanics of the game and the different/upcoming characters which while totally understandable is something I can't get into.
Is it true if the series hadn't been a fighting game it would have been either an rpg or a beat-em-up? Wonder how that would have turned out.
Welp, looks like Nintendo just DMCA'd the leaked videos. Should I take it as adding to their legitimacy or are they self-aware enough that they're taking it down because it's fake?
>>189529 Unless someone spent a LOT of time hacking Brawl, modding it to use Sm4sh's interface, putting it on a 3DS, making models and animating moves, and then recording it with a subpar camera phone; it proves they're too legit to quit.
Sakurai is probably burning with the rage of 1000 suns. clone suns
>>189516 >lots of dat ass >Shulk Oh man maybe I will get a Wii U this year. But the same characters are in 3DS, and I already have that pre-ordered.
>>189529 I'd say legitimacy. You can't (properly) claim DMCA on things you don't actually own, so if they were fake they'd be protected under parody/satire. Nintendo has gotten plenty of shit for their Youtube shenanigans over the last year, so I doubt they'd want to risk further backlash without good reason.
They could have issued an illegitimate one and the uploader not interested in counter-filing with Youtube; if the uploader did counter-file and Nintendo didn't take legal action that would mean the videos are likely fake, so if the goal is to spread a rumor it would be bad to counter-file, anyway. Thus, legitimacy is not guaranteed, but I'd say it's a damn good bet. With the name "ESRB0038", so someone from the ESRB (or, more likely, one of their kids they let play it) is the leak.
The fact that Snake isn't in the vid means he's probably not back, especially since he'd be one of the characters most likely to flag ESRB ratings and therefore they'd feel obligated to reveal him.
>>189530 People have put a lot of effort into hoaxes. There was one for Ocarina of Time that seemed legit and had people wondering for a few years: a few pictures of a TV showing Link receiving the Triforce. While "LEAKS" would seem above and beyond, I wouldn't be surprised...
>>189532 Huh, I didn't even make that connection. The pictures make more sense, then.
>>189534 Just having Snake wouldn't be enough; if they made him more CQC and less ROCKET he wouldn't make it in. These are probably just an example of the "worst" the game has to offer, along with random stuff for a general idea (Master Hand is not a leak.) If weaponry were a concern, I'm sure there would be images of Fox or Samus firing their guns, but I don't see that in there.
But, seeing as how we're six weeks out and are now fairly certain there are at least five other fighters unannounced, it doesn't look good for him.
>>189541 What a dumbass. I bet the "ESRB0083" is what gave him away. Guy lost what sounds like a sweet gig and is getting sued, for what? Some internet fame that will last only until the game is actually released? The game/3DS are probably property of Nintendo so if he doesn't give it back they'll sue him for those, too. At best he could go balls out and just upload everything he possibly could, which would be cool for us, but then he'd probably get sued for even more.
>>189546 >People have put a lot of effort into hoaxes. There was one for Ocarina of Time that seemed legit and had people wondering for a few years: a few pictures of a TV showing Link receiving the Triforce. While "LEAKS" would seem above and beyond, I wouldn't be surprised...
That wasn't really a hoax, the pictures were real. It's from one of the early trailers, and people spread it around as proof that the Triforce was in the game, because the trailer was so obscure that nobody had seen it.
The only thing I'm disappointed about is Dark Pit being a clone instead of a costume color like he should be. Same with Dr. Mario, but at least he has a different costume.
So, apparently, the Smash Bros leaker was a friend of a guy that worked at NOA. NOA employee had a 3DS copy of the game to submit to the ESRB and told his friends over at Skype about the roster. Friend then goes to /v/ and spills all for attention.
The sizzle reel is pretty lack luster, but the ability to change his physics like that is pretty damn cool. Between him, Rosaline, and Robin this game is looking more and more technical. I like it. Now only if we can get Snake back as DLC...
>>189682 I know we've known; "that's one" as in "that's one from the leak".
Also, for anyone who hasn't played Xenoblade Chronicles, the last bit in the reveal trailer is the shadow of the main Mechon enemy in the early game, Metal Face, who is actuallya fellow Hom like Shulk stuck inside a Mechon. So he will probably be a boss battle in Sm4sh.
>>189693 By that I'm referring to the idiots who seem convinced ZSS's alt was invented solely to objectify her and don't realize that it's something she's actually wore in canon. I can get being mad at ZSS being objectified in general, I'm a feminist and think there's a place for general discussion about Samus's depiction but most of the loudest outrage against that particular costume seems really fucking misplaced/ignorant. Also I actually think the bra/shorts combo looks really badass so maybe it's a bit of butthurt after all.
>>189698 Rodyle seems to have some weird beef against the Nopon and refused to let us forget that every time they were mentioned. Dude needs to understand that just because you have a strong opinion doesn't mean you ought to voice it every single opportunity, and that sometimes it's just healthier to have middle opinions in the first place.
I mentioned that I didn't like Riki once. Maybe twice? I have no fucking idea what you're talking about dude. You're the one who lost your shit here, not me. I wish it was Dunban. That's all I said. Calm the fuck down.
So is Reyn and the others going to show up in the Chain Attack or as ATs? Dunban and Riki are mega popular on their own but seem like a weird thematic combo so I hope it's the former.
>>189705 The voice acting. It's the voice acting. The Nopons have really annoying English voices which is a shame because I really liked the voice acting in Xenoblade otherwise, and indeed like the Nopons otherwise (I think Riki's whole reason for being banished is funny and they are cute to look at).
But again, I'm not sure why this was even brought up. All I said was I'd rather have Dunban than Shulk.
I bet I know the answer to this, but do you think there will be any additional DLC characters coming down the line other than the ones we know about? Like a second season of sort with patches and stuff?
Also If they do add more DLC characters who would you like to see?
Personally, even though there are probably too many non-Nintendo characters on the roster, I'd like to see some indy or reviving series like Shovel Knight or Shantae. I'd ask for Beck too, but there's no chance in hell of that happening.
>>189711 Shulk is the main character of Xenoblade. Of course he'd get way more priority over Dunban. That's like thinking Piers would beat out Isaac, or a Shonen Jump crossover game picking Ace over Luffy.
>>189713 If we get other Nintendo Characters as DLC, aside from the ones who were in previous Smash games that just didn't make it this time, I'd like to see some of the non-leads from the "lesser franchises" get in, or even tertiary characters from "major franchises." Like see a Laguz or a Manakete from Fire Emblem make it in for example, or maybe someone like Kumatora from Mother 3, or Melnia from Xenoblade--which is admittedly not a Nintendo title per se, but might count. Also Groose. Everyone needs more Groose, always.
More Pokemon might be a good idea too, but Pokken Fighters might fill the need there to where there's not much point.
>>189716 Yeah it is, Monolith Soft is owned directly by Nintendo. So anybody from Xenoblade/Baten Kaitos is as Nintendo as Mario or Fire Emblem is. Hell, they're even more proprietary than Pikachu since IIRC Game Freak is technically only second-party.
>>189701 Hmm? Who cares about her Alt when the Zero suits increasing prominence is more notable. And for Smash it would be the addition of the jet high-heels, Those are new and really retarded looking.
Thinking about it Zero suit catsuit-outfit has been becoming a much bigger focus for her over the years compared to her originally just taking off her combat armor in the post-game completion screen. That along with the likes of Other M are a pretty blatant overall change, it IS actually pretty fetishy.
>>189733 Travis isn't getting in for the same reason Bayo isn't. You can't tone them down enough to be palpable for younger audiences with out taking too much away.
>>189746 I'm sure Sakurai's just fucking with us. Ness was one of the original 12, it'd be retarded if he wasn't in. Then again, we haven't seen Jigglypuff yet either...
>>189768 Yeah, what >>189770 said, I think he'll be a boss battle. It would be a hell of a waste for him to just be a stage hazard like Palkia/Girgatina was in the Peal/Crystal-themed stage. I doubt they'd bother including his lines if that's all he was, anyway...
>>189793 I can understand the status debuff, direct damage, and DOT skills could be converted pretty easily but I'm wondering how they're going to implement his auras and stuff like that.
>>189798 Speculation time: Yoink - spawns several items Happy Happy - free smash ball? Bitey Bitey - single-hit with back bonus Sneaky Sneaky - single-hit closeup nuke Play Dead - does nothing like Goldeen Lurgy Lurgy - poison/flower damage Hero Time - whoever summons him gets some sort of buff Roly Poly - enemies trip more often Behave Behave - buries people in the ground Riki is Angry - anyone who hits him gets counter damage Bedtime Bedtime - sleep You Can Do It - heals players with food Peekaboo Peekaboo - reverses controls like ZA WEEGEE Say Sorry - heals debuffs Burninate Burninate - fire damage Freezinate - ice damage Tantrum - AoE hit
>>189798 He's not a PC, just an assist trophy. "As an Assist Trophy, he uses many arts like Happy Happy, Freezinate, and Yoink!" Then they say he sounds like Tingle but, even if true, that's heresy.
I'm wondering if they're seriously going to lock out all the other party members like Reyn, Sharla, and Melia out. I can understand wanting to avoid spoilers because of the Xenoblade remake coming out soon, but these three are harmless. And even with Seven you could have them appear in their starter form which reveals nothing (if anything it makes that scene only hit harder).
In regards to the debacle that was SFXT, and Capcom saying they were "finished" with SF4 for the time being this question has popped into my head.
If and when Capcom goes into development on SFV would it be "ethical" for them to use moves they developed for Tekken Characters in SFXT to create entierly new characters?
Lots of companies used Street Fighter-inspired shit in fighting games during the big '90s boom (one game even came so close to Street Fighter that Capcom won a lawsuit for copyright infringement over it).
Capcom ganking its own shit doesn't really matter. And besides, they're just going to age all the characters up a few months and do another "between II and III" sequel when it comes to Street Fighter V. No way they go with the Mortal Kombat X (or even Street Fighter III) approach and ditch most of the cast for a bunch of original fighters (and thus age-up the carryover cast).
As much as I'd like to see Capcom do that, they won't. If they do, I'll eat my whole wardrobe.
>>190349 Well when they did SF4 they made 10 new characters(Though technically Gouken and Oni were a shoto-clones and Decapre is literally a Cammy clone in appearance)
The original Street Fighter III only had two returning characters (Ken and Ryu) out of 10 (Yun and Yang weren't separated in this iteration). By the time Third Strike scarred thy DNA, the roster had leaped in size to 19: 14 originals (including the now-split Yun and Yang), four returning characters (Akuma, Chun-Li, Ryu, and Ken), and one "import" character (Hugo from Final Fight).
I don't see Capcom cutting out three-quarters of the current Street Fighter roster to do a proper (storyline) sequel for Street Fighter III. SFV will most likely be another ‘interquel’ that takes place in some nebulous timeframe between other Street Fighter games (likely IV and III this time around) so Capcom can reuse assets and put in all the fan-favorite characters without having to do the work of designing a primarily-new cast.
>>190360 I don't see them cutting the roster either. I'm pretty sure they're going to go the KOF route and have a ton of characters in it. They're already pushing 44.
I also don't see them not creating any new characters. Even when they first started they knew enough to make a few new characters to go with the originals.
Take a look at Mortal Kombat X, though: the 2011 MK game killed off a fuckton of characters in the Story Mode, and MKX picks up right where that game left off. So far, of the nine characters announced, five are returning (Goro, Kano, Raiden, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero) — and while I’d expect more returning characters, there seems to be just as much a priority on new characters (especially since the MKX story will span a 25-year period that starts right after the climax of the 2011 game’s story).
What NetherRealm did with MK9’s story mode is what I'd love to see Capcom do for SFV: a linear storyline that actually comes to a satisfying conclusion and leaves the door open for future storyline installments. (In other words: the exact opposite of most fighting games, where you have to wait for the next game to figure out what ending is actually canon to the overarching storyline. *coughtekkencough*)
I would love to see Capcom make a true story-sequel to Street Fighter III that incorporates characters from II, III, and IV while also introducing new characters that have fresher concepts attached to them. Look at MKX: I know the "two people as one fighter" schtick has been done in other fighting games before, but it's still rather rare, and the Ferra/Torr combo looks like an amazing take on the concept.
I'm not asking for a revolution. I'm asking for something a little fresher than what we would probably get from Capcom based on what other companies working within the same genre are doing. Is that so wrong? :O
Personally I'm not really a fan of how they did things with MK9 on the story. Killing off all of there characters just seemed silly and wasteful to me. I'm sure MKX will be fine and the new characters look great, but the way they went about it rubbed me the wrong way.
As for Capcom and cohesive stories in fighting games I don't sweat it all that much. Story isn't really a big draw for me. I just really like the characters and how they're designed/fight. It'd be nice if they did something like made like a beat'em up side game that explained the story in a more cohesive manner, but I don't really see Capcom going out of their way to shelve/retire characters and bring in new ones for the sake of the story. They tried that with New Generation and that didn't work until 3rd Strike and that took a while to catch on if I'm remembering right.
And so it's just not us talking here's a new Tekken character that uses savate.
The v1.04 patch drops in October, and I believe Omega Mode will come with that.
You will be able to play Omega Mode online, but only in non-ranked matches, and Ultra Mode will still be the tournament standard going forward. Capcom intended Omega Mode to be more "fun" than "balanced", BTW.
And yes, all 44 characters will have an Omega Mode. I shudder to think of just how overpowered Capcom will make Gouken and Oni.
Also: someone in the EventHubs comments section pointed out that some of the new Omega Mode moves allow for juggle-state combos. Some commenters are even suggesting that Omega Mode's a way for Capcom to alpha test some ideas for the next Street Fighter.
* Ryu has a parry * Honda has new attacks when he charges forward and can throw salt in people's eyes * Blanka's vertical roll goes straight up and has a follow-up attack if it connects
So I had an interesting(read super dumb) idea about a possible new character concept for Street Fighter but then I remembered that they're doing a sort of sliding timeline thing and it might not work.
Well it's not technically sliding so much as it is really fucking out of order. As best as I can figure, this is the chronological order of the story as outlined by the main Street Fighter games (including the Alpha franchise):
I > Alpha (1, 2, 3) > II > IV > III
Anything else is non-canon. (Suck it, EX.)
Regarding the highly-rumored SFV: I think the story (such as it is) will fall between IV and III so they can recycle as many old characters as possible. If they actually continue the story with a direct sequel to III, I'll be amazed. (I'd also love to see them do a story mode similar to that of the recent Mortal Kombat games, but I don't think that'll ever happen in a Street Fighter game.)

Looks like maybe a few short seconds of gameplay between Ryu and Chun-Li. They're using the ink motief again and the styling just looks like a slightly crisper SF4. Also it's PS4 and PC exclusive because Capcom likes sucking on that cock.
I’m kinda disappointed in how they’re sticking with the ink motif and general designs of 4 instead of trying something new. I'm not talking 2-to-Alpha levels of redesign, even a minor change in artstyle (beyond the refining of the 4 artstyle) would’ve been nice.
Also: I really, really hope this isn’t another goddamn interquel.
Was it even footage from the new game? Thought it was just clips of SF4, with the logo being the only SF5 related thing shown. Seems to early for any footage.
The Ryu vs. Chun-Li footage is definitely new, though it looks like a refined version of the SF4 graphics running the show.
I hope they don't go in that direction for the game, though. Each major iteration of the franchise (and the Alpha part of the franchise) has its own distinct look. I don't know what direction the art for 5 could take other than a Guilty Gear Xrd-esque "2D done with 3D" look, but there has to be something Capcom can do besides taking the easy way out with "4, but refined".
Look what happened when they tried something new and different with 3rd Strike. People lost their minds in a bad way so they quickly threw in some veterans and it still wasn't a commercial success. No, these days game developers only take risks if they absolutely have to. They'll stick with the tried and true especially considering how strapped for cash and success Capcom is right now.
I only hope they don't make this a straight up SF4 clone with upresed graphics and a darker palette.
Given the appearance of Omega Mode, I doubt 5 will be a 4 clone with better graphics. Besides, I don’t recall that strike-to-Hurricane Kick combo or Chun-Li’s aerial combo from the 5 teaser being in 4.
What worries me beyond the graphics/style of the game is how they might further complicate the gameplay. We already have Supers and Ultras and Red Focus and all of this other stuff, but all those "additions" have pushed the game into the realm of "you're never going to have any fun with this unless you train to be a fighting game god". Now look back at Street Fighter II (any version of it): gameplay was easy to get into because it didn't require hours upon hours of training to understand the ins and outs of even basic-level shit. What I'd like to see from 5 is a Street Fighter game stripped down to its bare essentials again—a game made not just for fans to enjoy, but for fighting game newcomers to dig into as well.
Man I don't see the sense in making this PS4 exclusive. Or maybe I just haven't been paying attention to sales. Either way I'm still rocking the 360 so I'll wait and see which system has most fighting games I'm interested in before doing something.
>>191976 The PS4 has sold enough units at this point that it seems financially feasible. But everything nowadays seems to get at least a PC port at some point, so I can really see it go either way. I doubt it'll go on Xbone, though.
SFV is being built for PS4 and PC with cross-platform play in mind. Capcom said the PS4 is the only console SFV will ever appear on, though, as it was built specificially around the PS4 architecture.
>>191973 >>191976 While nothing confirmed, Sony apparently had a hand in its financial development. Ono said last July Capcom didn't have the money or manpower to make SFV.
Considering getting it but there is one question I have to know before doing so.
What is the total amount of custom characters you can make in it? This game gives you so many more options when it comes to them including being able to make your characters species other than lame saiyans, it would be a damm shame if they put a hard limit on it.
As for gameplay it looks better than the last couple of dbz games.
>>192001 In the Beta some people got into on youtube it's only one, but it looked like there were slots for more. Customization options however are rather lacking. I hope you can unlock more, but as for right now, they are very minimal. The biggest problem is hair since they mostly just used other characters hair styles and outside of costumes (which I hope you can change), it's the most noticeable part of a character.
Gameplay looks pretty slow, and I'm not a fan of being able to run away and muck about in 3D space. It's been a while since I last played, but Budokai 3 did it right. "2D" in a 3D environment, plus air combat. Feels right, although it was really mashy and not much of a true fighter in that regard.
>>192003 Nice I'll check it out. Hopefully it can rekindle my interest.
>>192005 Yeah there are 8 slots for created characters on the screen but is that the total amount? Once you fill that up does it begin to scroll down or are you stuck with it. Could be worse but still with all the new stuff in terms of options more would be better.
(Talking about hair being the same thats just a staple part of Toriyama's design style, he has alot of same face/same hair in his designs, he also has alot of the same design elements in his clothing/armor and mechanical things too)
>>192006 I'm wiling to bet that it's probably 8, but who knows? You have 5 different races to pick from so that gives you a chance to make two of each save for two. It's not perfect, but not bad. I am curious to see how much of an unlock fest this ends up being. Even though it makes sense for the source material, I was never a fan of unlocking moves for fighting games.
True enough about the hair, but I still wish it was expanded a little more to give it some variety so everyone's not running around looking so same-y. Even if the series can be like that from time to time. Willing to bet more options unlock as you play.
In short: over 70 playable characters, over 200 different attacks, over 200 different clothing items, max level is 60+, Tons of mentors (available based on level) That mixed with seeing some decent gameplay footage have me excited about a DBZ game for the first time in a long time.
>>192006 If it's 8 that works out decently well. You get a male and female Majin, "Earthling", and Saiyan so there's 6 right there. Then for you're 7th and 8th you have the genderless Namekian and Frieza race so you have enough slots to make one of everything.
And considering how RPGlike the game is, that's a decent amount to start with I think.
Also for anyone wondering, yes each race has "racial attributes" that come in the way to how their stats are dished out as well as a passive special ability and access to a (small but) unknown amount of racially locked special moves.
>>192036 Fair enough. The customization can lead to a lot of options. Personally I want to try and do an all melee focused fighter and a beam spammer at minimum. Then of corse thanks to Plague, a delicious brown Saiyan girl (provided they can get some of that bod old hair the males can).
Then of corse I want to try and do a "joke" character and have him or her trained by the scrubs and jobbers of the series if they're available as mentors.
>>192037 Well until I see the game they aren't gonna be solid but here's the base concepts. There's the avatar character first who I'll be taking through storymode and getting used to everything. Human male, blue hair, kaioken techniques and. I've also heard you can set up to 8 different outfits/move sets for each character so I'll likely have a "normal outfit" "training gi" "armour" variations with different setups. Maybe a move that involves the power pole since I heard it was in
Next would be a human female, red hair, young with a vaguely military theme. Give her a scouter along with any other tech accessories it gives you and a sword. Maybe have a second variant if I can find some armour styled gear that isn't Saiyan stuff along with the sword and an altered movelist.
Saiyan male was gonna do a massive guy, shaved head and monk styled robes with his tail tied around his waist in a belt style if its in. Basically like he was a saiyan who was sent to destroy a civilization as a child but ended up getting his ass kicked, then instead of finishing him off they took him in and taught him the ways of peace.
Saiyan female would oddly enough also be a (teenage) brown/black girl, still has a tail and with "alien civilian" clothing, like she was from an offshoot saiyan community that while they trained their fighting abilities were not conquerors or invaders. Would give her the SSJ1 transformation, could be like she seems weaker but has great power hidden within her.
The Majin male and female would be small kid-sized fighters, mischievous siblings with yellow or orange flesh instead of pink. was thinking of making one more punchy while the other is more blasty. Super Ghost Kamikaze attack for their ultimate?
Namekian would be a mutant, pure white skin colour instead of green, odd eye colour, taking advantage of the facial/head/antenna details to give him ones that don't look like a normal namekians. A lonely individual that doesn't know who spawned him. Would have the Giant Form transformation.
Little less sure what to do for the Freiza-race guy, need to wait and see what the options are for them (hope you can take details from Cooler's ultimate form since it looked the best). His main thing would be that he's not an evil dick, instead he just wanders about being a chill dude.
These are only the first set, think I'm gonna split this into two posts just to be safe.
>>192039 For another human I was going to make a large boisterous guy who was purely physical in his moveset, would have no ki blast specials or even the ki charging ability (its a move in itself and you don't need to equip it), was thinking dark skin with boots/jeans/bomber jacket style clothing and a hat.
Another Majin male, The Blub, would make him as big and as wide as possible while giving him all the defence and regeneration buffs possible. A dopey looking giant that can take a beating.
Was thinking of making another female Majin but in this case tall and styling her to be as elegant as possible, maybe give her an unusual skin like blue instead of the usual pink. Would be nice if there was some ice-based moved in the game since I'm sure there's been a few in the series.
A young space-drifter of a namekian, would wear more spacey/techy stuff unlike the usual baggy clothes & robes of his people. Make him more attack-based in terms of his moveset and buffs, maybe give him a move that uses tech or a weapon if possible.
Another female saiyan, an actual woman in this case, would have all the super saiyan transformations availible equipped. If I got the pre-order bonus with the extra costumes would have two variants, one with her in casual clothing that would be worn by someone like a farmer or miner and a second where she would have the golden saiyan armour. Basically her deal is being a shining 'hero' who shows up when the world is at stake to punch the threat in the face with her amazing strength but as soon as thats done she immediately goes back into seclusion in the wilderness away from people. (Its a bit like how the heroes normally are in dbz but she is even more seclusive and its a stronger contrast when she suddenly appears as a glowing goddess of war in shining armour)
Has a concept for making another saiyan character but don't think its possible. The idea was for him to be 'naturally' super saiyan all the time, would have a sword and be dressed like a primitive barbarian, which he would be. Just wandering around his backwards world in a primitive manner world hunting and eating wild beasts while crushing all who challenged him.
Would likely start thinking up more once I could see the options available in the editor, it would be the same with how I get when playing the DW: Empire games where I spend all my time making and playing new characters whenever inspiration hits me.
>>192040 For Humans, you NEED the power up special move. Humans get a power boost if their Kei is full.
The Buu male idea works since the males get a lot of defensive buffs but apparently are super slow.
Namekian's... honestly kind of shit. High health and low damage with regeneration when their health is low enough. Might make one for beam spam or support rolls in 3v3. Not really happy with how they've turned out. As for clothing, there is a lot to pick from it seems, each with minor stat buffs it looks like so you may be able to get your tech slug man after all which is pretty rad.
For Saiyan, great apes and giant fights were confirmed to return so I've got my fingers crossed that they'll be available as a transformation option. Seeing all the Seiyans running around without tails was really rubbing me the wrong way. If I can go rage monkey I'll use that and let all the super special snowflakes turn Super Saiyan into meaningless commonplace like the show did.
My issue is I tend to think more in terms of fighting ability than storyline or plot behind the character which I guess I should work on as it may open more up.
As for ice attacks; there may be some since there are a SHITLOAD of attacks in the game. I also hope that weapons, which thankfully are only used in some attacks if you have the right cloths equipped, have options other than swords; not that I'd ever use them.
Also here's some info that's been collected: http://www.saiyanisland.com/2014/09/dragon-ball-xenoverse-characters-and-races/
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-09-tekken-7s-chief-designer-upset-over-reaction-to-divisive-lucky-chloe-character This entire American politics trench war by proxy of vidyagames shitfest has finally caused completely harmless shit to get censored in NA. But not out of consideration, but out of BUTTHURT. This is infuriating and hilarious at the same time.
>>192042 >>For Humans, you NEED the power up special move. Humans get a power boost if their Kei is full. You don't NEED to do anything, plus you still gain ki through combos like in other games.
>>192049 I don't see the big deal? Sure the design is disgustingly Japanese and their particular fetishes in this direction are pretty shit but its not got anything so objectionable it needs to be cut, then again I don't care about Tekken anymore.
Pretty sure Harada is just trolling dumb motherfuckers bitching about a ridiculous character design in a fighting game. After all, when have fighting games ever had ridiculous character designs?
MMmmm, pappa like~ Dat Ultratech logo, just like Kenner Jurassic Park toys. http://www.killerinstinctcentral.com/riptor-killer-instinct-xbox-one-concept-art-profile-information-and-planned-release-date/ Also egg-making parts confirmed!
Speaking of Xenoverse character creation it would be pretty cool if they kept expanding it in a sequel for a sales gimmick, as in adding additional races such as animal people that used to be everywhere in dragonball or being able to choose an option that turns base characters from other races into "androids" which alters their stats and gameplay like changing the way the build their energy meter.
Okay SFV looks amazing. Dem stage-based round endings. (Someone’s gonna GIF the hell out of Chun-Li with the ramen noodle bowl on her head.)
And Charlie in the post-trailer stinger…with an Illuminati jewel on his head. Not sure if this alludes to SFV being another interquel or a true sequel to SFIII, but it does at least hint towards SFIII’s Big Bad being involved somehow.
I'm definitely excited for SFV. I can't claim to be anywhere near good enough at fighting games to tell much about the mechanics, but it looks really good and hella fun to play.
>>192118 I get that it's still in early stages but I'm honestly not that impressed with the graphics. There's a decent amount of detail in there but it doesn't look particularly better than most mid-era seventh generation games.
>>192129 Well, we've already established current gen consoles are surprisingly weak compared to even most mid-range PCs, so if they want to keep a steady 60, there's inevitably going to be some cutbacks on things like lighting effects and texture quality. All things considered I think the footage looks rather beautiful. I just wish the style would deviate from IV a bit more.
Also yes, Kung Lao gets his neck cracked by Shao Khan to rise the stakes. But given all the magic BS, he could toally survived that. Maybe Shang Tsung use his body for stuff.
It'd be a stretch, though. The Great Kung Lao died about 500 years before the first tournament. Are they actually saying he faked his death, though? I can't see the video right now.
It'd be pointless to complicate it that much, there's precedent in the series of ordinary earthlings coming back from the dead with no ill effects. Hell, Johnny Cage dies fighting Motaro in the original timeline but that didn't stop him from showing up in MK4 through Armageddon. (Back then, the excuse was that the opening of the Netherworld, people who were dead or locked away like him and Scorpion were able to come back. Johnny Cafe was supposed to have died fighting Kintaro, explaining his absence until MK: Trilogy came along. MK9 seems to have retconned it, slightly, to fighting Motaro instead.)
>An old guy who could either be Chun-Li or Juri's dad who looks like the guy from Oldboy.
I would vote Juri. Dorai is one of those guys who's either deader-than-dead or mysteriously vanished and which one he is at present is entirely dependent on which canon you're going by.
>>192451 That's the thing. I want it to be sort of a mystery. Like he lost most of his memory but he remembers he has a daughter. That with Juri and Chun-Li's similar back stories as well as him having a move set inspired by both of them, that will lead to speculation about who he really is.
>Megas >Ugly Megas >"It'll just be a feature for X and Y anon, don't over react" I should obviously just move on at this point, but after enjoying a series for so many years it's kinda hard to move on or ignore an aspect that you feel ruined it for you. Anyway, i'm just venting.
>>192808 Too early to judge but it looks pretty meh. For some reason Western fighting games tend to come off as really sluggish and slow paced compared to Japanese ones, but that might just be a 3D models versus sprites kind of thing.
>>193071 Eh, we dont have an Amiibo scalping problem here in sweden. Guessing because they cost more here, like all toys. 149kr to 199kr is the standard.
Also no problems so far with the 3rd party gamecube adaptor. Just hope I remember where I put the extra controller I got...
>>193071 Between two Smash Bros (fun to play, not really to watch especially with how long sets go), Killer Instinct (tryhard inbuilt hype and general awkwardness), and Tekken 7 and MKX being way too new for mainstage (clunky unfamiliarity) means this is going to be a very sleepy EVO.
>>193074 Scalping in the US is pretty bad. Little Mac for instance goes for around $50 now. When Nintendo says "limited edition" they REALLY mean it. Unless it's Pikachu and Pario, almost all of the figures are being sold for far more than their MSRP.
