This is a real disappointing QL on a lot of levels. Dan wasn't the right guy to ride into Japan with Jeff and the game itself is a lot less amusingly zany than it seemed. It's also real weird that it's like, dubbed for example. This is the kind of thing you expect Xseed to put out digital only with all the Japanese audio left in untouched. I do sort of find it funny that it's SUPER ANIME Yakuza right down to the insane level of advertising though.

Jon made a social faux pas. This, in itself is not a big deal. If he had apologized, it would have gone away immediately. If he had ignored it, it would still have been forgotten within days. Instead, Jon went on a weeklong rampage against the very concept of an apology, casting himself as a victim of the 'pussification' of America, insulting a lot of people in the process. That is being a dick. And that's without even touching on his behavior during the Zoë Quinn conflagration, which was just disgraceful.

Also, yes, like Phil Fish he has the right to withdraw from the internet and stop producing content. I wouldn't want him to do that, because I do enjoy his videos even if I think someone needs to take his Twitter feed away before he hurts himself. But that doesn't change the fact that his behavior of late has been really dickish, nor that by making his living selling himself and his image, he does in fact qualify as a public figure and subject to public criticism.

What irritates me about the whole JonTron thing is that I've seen way more backlash on Tumblr over him being an anti-Semite for making a Schindler's List joke, or a transphobe and misogynist for Game Grumps jokes that weren't actually misogynist, or that a racist for using the N word even though Arin made those exact same kinds of jokes without apologizing for them either, and so on and on. And not nearly as much over the actual douchey thing he did with the tweets to Zoe Quinn. Something tells me Tumblr has their priorities way fucked.

While I agree that some of the criticism is pretty fucking ridiculous (being mean to an individual woman =/= having a deepseated hatred of all women in general), he needs to learn to be less goddamn thin-skinned and learn to accept the more reasonable criticism (see: TotalBiscuit telling him not to be a buttmunch who insults people personally then gets mad when people call him out on it) while being able to ignore the extreme comments (SJW who say he's a white cishet tool of the patriarchy who wants all Jews, blacks, gays, and women raped or dead) if he wants to continue to be in the public eye.
