>plus4chan is scheduled for death >4chan is legitimately dying now (Hiro is taking more drastic measures to keep it alive: allowing malicious ads/scripts, blocking archives for monetary reasons, generally trying hard to get people to buy passes) Those were the only two imageboards I actually cared about.
>>416692 >I'm actually fine with this. Non-stop, all-encompassing archives was one of the things that ruined 4chan. I can respect that, but the archives are very useful to me just because of the types of threads I browse. Sure, the ephemeral nature of the site is important to some boards or threads, but not so much for others.
Honestly, I'm annoyed that it's only happening for monetary reasons. I heard moot tried to block them once because of the reasons you described but stopped due to pressure from Anons.
>>416695 >>416692 actually let me rephrase what I said; I'm okay with blocking all archivers. I'm okay if it was blocked to cut back on bandwidth. But I'm not okay with it becoming a $20 4chan VIP Account feature.
An on-demand archiver, like the first 4chanarchive site, was the best solution IMO. It required voting for the best threads, only lurkers knew about it, and it was moderated heavily to cut back on shit. It's a shame its archives were lost, it had more great threads than any of the fuuka based archivers.
