I assume they underwent the same change I did and realized most of their interests aren't very fulfilling so they stopped posting about them. That, and momentum is a little hard to maintain after six or so years. This board specifically was always a circlejerk anyway so it's not like anyone can complain about it dying. Least of all you, Cyb.
Everyone realized they'd rather talk about their interests off-site, because apparently you really can quit the imageboard life if you endure it long enough.
>>393785 Actually, you know what? This genuinely worries me. What the hell do I do now that comics, cartoons, video games manga and anime just aren't fun anymore? I don't even think it' an issue of taste anymore, I think overexposure to the mediums themselves has simply burnt me out. What do I move on to now?
>>393797 I live in an area where it's gonna be complete shit out come December but you know what? Why the fuck not. Anything just to fill the void again. That's why I started reading comics in the first place. Surprising that it managed to last so many years.
Long as this remains a place without the whole Tumblr SJW, Racism, fights and trash that stinks up regular /co/ I'll stick around even if it is a bit slow.
>>393799 You could look into other mediums if the weather proves too bad. Not going far from those topics, you could look into movies, poetry, opera, theater, or philosophy. Those are still mainly about consuming, of course; you could try something that is productive. Even something as simple as card towers or collages or whatever. Hell, take a large piece of paper, splash it with paint and maybe fart on it, and see how many "modern" galleries will seriously consider displaying it.
So did you ever escape from Lee's Summit or whatever that shithole was called? Cause, make no mistake, you are a motherfucker. But no one deserves to be stuck in surburban Missouri for the rest of their lives.
How did Cybaiotron manage to remain friends with some of the oldfags in spite of being such an unapologetic asshole? This is really bothering me. I thought most of them were, you know, good people.
In the past year (or two) alone we've lost pablo, ferrous, tooth, maya, miley. That one Australian (?) fellow with the "s" name who was really nice. Red lantern anon. Ram.
Do you guys lurk or post anon? I imagine a few of you do since some of you have posted in the SYM
Man I donated money to get cookies to save this place. It's too bad so many people jumped ship... including Anonex.
>>393953 >>393949 Pretty much all of those people are still active on Steam or tumblr or whathaveyou. They aren't literally dead or anything. Though speaking of which, I am wondering what happened to Darc Discordia. Coulda sworn he was still posting but I can't seem to find his name or trip anywhere.
>>393953 Who are you? HYDRA? The one guy who made themselves look shitty in the SYM thread once but still hung around posting anon anyway (name started with "F" IIRC)? I can only remember so many names/trips and I honestly usually only remember the ones whose posts I've responded to or who've responded to mine.
How long did Red leave? It doesn't feel like that long since I've seen him post.
I'm kinda glad I somehow influenced Pablo to do one of those ironically terrible (maybe? Never understood the aim of them, honestly) photoshops for me before he eventually fucked off into the ether. I don't think I have it saved anywhere, but still. It was the simple fact that it happened which makes it special.
>>394026 Remember when we pretended those archives would be loaded into a searchable index so people could easily access those boards again rather than let them slip away into the ether? Good times, good times.
I'll be sad if this place shuts down. I barely ever come here to /baw/ but I look at /co/, /cog/ and /jam/ pretty often, though I do wish they were more active.
Honestly, I'm just about done with imageboards except for this one. My problem is that I don't play games, read comics, or watch TV/cartoons/anime on a regular enough basis to actively discuss those things.
I'm basically here to poke my head in, offer up something when I have something to say, and disappear.
But I like this board. It's small, it's slow enough to follow discussions, and it's not plagued by the kind of bullshit that turned 4chan and its various ‘spinoffs’ into shitholes.
Looking over old threads which I have for no readily apparent reason, two questions come to mind: Why did the regulars seem so much happier a few years ago? Maybe happy isn't quite the right word, but more energetic. Maybe everyone has hit that point where they're used up jaded adults but damn that's a sad reality.
And, less importantly: Why did Bea stop using proper punctuation and capitalization in her posts?
>>394388 I can be somewhat energetic, especially when it involves weird tech stuff, but it's like there's no one to really be energetic about it with me.
If you want a way to boost activity, critique the art in the Okekai thread I made. You can tell it's mine because it has a bunch of dumb stuff and no porn. It could get me to draw more, and then I think other people who are better at drawing will see that and decide to post more drawings too for some reason?
>>394404 Same. I find people across the metaphorical board just want to rant and be hyper critical about things. If you try to do anything other than join on in it, in the same way, you're attacked or left out. I admit it's fun to do time to time and some things are deserving of ire, but if I were as negative all the time as some people seem to be I'd have killed myself years ago.
>>394812 Yeah, I've enjoyed coming here for a long time, but lately the community just keeps getting more and more negative and I'm starting to think of moving to greener pastures. People here don't seem to enjoy ANYTHING anymore.
>>394824 All the comics are the worst they've ever been, all the cartoons are the worst they've ever been, all the video games are the worst they've ever been, etc. etc. etc. It's just getting exhausting.
>>394824 This place isn't the worst about it, but maybe that makes it bad since I keep coming back thinking something will pick up. On the plus side it's not a huge place, which might be why it's prone to slumps, so I don't waste too much time either way.
captcha ain't working right, I entered it like 10x and it still won't let me through. if others are having the same problem this would explain the decline of members. Using proxy to post.
We do have two or three countries blocked because 80% of the spam we were getting came from them; however, I don't believe the IP of >>395337 is included in that, so likely one of those other reasons.
