Also, PNG would actually be smaller in this case (vector-y cartoon images with monochrome colors) if it weren't for the textures and the blur effects, since it can't really do much with those.

JPG files tend to deteriorate slightly each time a copy is made, especially if it's resized, whereas PNGs don't fade or deteriorate so quickly because they use vectoring to redraw similarly colored adjacent pixels.

JPGs do not have transparency. PNG does.

Not quite, it's every time a copy is RE-ENCODED. You can upload/download/copy a JPG a million times, it only gets worse because sites generally tend to re-encode and resize images to low quality JPGs for filesize reasons. The same thing would happen if you uploaded a PNG to Facebook or Imgur or whatever (past a certain size, I believe), the file still being saved as a PNG is more or less just a guarantee that that process hasn't happened to it yet.

Also unless you change the bitrate or the resolution or something, an image saved as a PNG is going to stay identical no matter how many times you re-encode it into another PNG or what settings you use, because the file format itself literally isn't capable of lossy compression (unless you do some weird shit https://pngmini.com/lossypng.html).
