For the record, I do know that you are a troll, but to make sure other people understand that you are wrong: yes, I am very triggered... when someone is wrong, or when someone posts incomplete or untrue information. Sadly, your post qualifies as both, and was written in a way that nearly suggested that you are prejudiced against the author or the fandom (as "poor response" has no base) - hence my suspicion towards you and your rather weird and mocking use of emoticons. if Area comes out and says she won't be updating the comic, then yes, it will be abandoned. Until proven, it is, as I mentioned (with sources, as opposed to you), on hold. One more difference is that I have suggested how to keep Area motivated, or at least make her keep it in mind, whilst you were doing nothing but shoving empty, unproven statements.

So, for this moment, let's enjoy what we have, keep asking Area every once in a while, and if you want to say that something has been ABANDONED!!!!111!!!!, then you better have damn good confirmation from an author.
