I doubt it. The Serial Killer of the Week stuff is really, really tiresome.
Also Hettienne Park's character is actual garbage to be put in the bin. I don't know if it's the script, the acting, or an unhappy confluence of the two, but it's a good thing she's so minor because god is she unbearable.
Okay wow this show got like a thousand times better once I hit the 3/4s mark of season one, holy shit. Even once the Serial Killer of the Week stuff came back it was so much better. The forensics dicks developed actual personality, I even started to like Beverly Katz for an episode before...you know, stuff happened. And the main plot involving Hannibal and Will is seriously, wonderfully dark shit. I love the antlerman imagery.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the show repurposing lines from different parts of the series though ("what principle need does he serve by killing" for example). I read Red Dragon for the first time like yesterday and I found it kind of funny just how often I'd come across a line I recognized from the show, in a totally different context. On the one hand it's probably just them showing their work and paying homage to the source material. On the other hand, though, it feels kind of like the lazy, hackish side of fanservice.
