That was some fucking choice animation. Holy shit this show on a budget is incredible.
>>88677
Not just that, whoever's responsible for the storyboarding on this show is fantastic.

Holy shit it's really happening. Too bad they're going to use the mediocre Jojonium covers though.
It's amazing what different music and sound effects can do to a video

Are you ready for a full year of SUTANDO?
>>88958
Glad they aren't going to rush Stardust Crusaders, but the full 52 episodes is too much for a part that already suffers to the extreme from being too slow and dragged out.
>>89007
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone praising Part 1 before.
>>89008
Part 1 in the anime was pretty good, and I know people have Jonathan as their favorite Jojo, not to mention Speedwagon and Will Anthonio Zeppeli were great.
Personally, the Part 1 anime is probably my favorite Jojo because it's built like a classic horror story, but it's also very tight and compact. There isn't a lot of excess "fat" left, but they also slimmed it down in a way that didn't hurt the story, unlike the old Stardust Crusaders OVA (which was my first experience with Jojo).
>>89008
Seriously. The only people I've ever seen who liked part 1 that much were people who started with the anime and refuse to read past what's currently airing. Most of the people who have Jonathan as their favorite Jojo are "such a gentlemen xD" memespouters or fujoshi. He's never been truly unpopular in Jojo thread rankings before the anime was announced, but nobody ever put him or part 1 at the top of their list either without getting serious quizzical looks.
>>89010
>Most of the people who have Jonathan as their favorite Jojo are "such a gentlemen xD" memespouters or fujoshi.
Well don't you just sound like a reasonable individual.
>>89009
See I kinda agree with that, but the middle third of the story was so bad aside from the sword and Zep's sacrifice. If they condensed all the stuff that happened in between Jonathan training with Zeppeli and the end of Tarkus, and left out Batlin Jr., I'd probably rank Phantom Blood a lot higher. But it's a long slog without much in the way of humor or anything else. It's not bad or anything, it's just an incredibly average part in a sea of great or at least original ones.
>>88984
Full behind Joseph's VA. Matt Mercer I'm a bit mixed on because he has range but tends to do better with roles that require for more emotion. It's hard striking the right balance between sounding dull because that's how your character is and dull because you're just too incompetent to emote properly. Dio's isn't bad but lacks subtlety (subtlety in my Jojos?). He needs a VA with more "class", like Freeman or Liam O'Brien. Seitz is only really good at yelling really loud.
>Are you ready for a full year of SUTANDO?
I'd be down for three years; I want to see Part 4, too.
>that dub
If there was a textbook example of a "so OK it's average" dub, it's this one.
I think the dub works.
Jotaro is pretty eh personally and Dio I agree needs to sound a bit more refined but I really like Myotismon... I mean old Joseph.
>>89076
Apparently it's not going to be the final version but just testing the waters.
Man Jotaro is a really boring character.
>>89416
No, he's just totally joyless. It's the worst excesses of late 80s/Early 90s shounen in one character.
I've been dropping series left and right these last two seasons. Or just plain forgot about them and then decided it was too much of a bother to catch up. But Jojo's been my one constant. It's been ages since I've read Stardust Crusaders and refreshing my memories with the anime has been a delight.
this episode was p ok and Jotaro did a thing thing. and failed at a thing even.
>>89604
The entire cast of Stardust Crusaders is incredibly likable. With the main protagonist being the sole exception, which is just such a shame.
While I'll never disagree that Joseph is the best Jojo (followed closely by Jolyne and Johnny) I do think that Jotaro gets shafted a bit by the fandom.
Stone Ocean did a pretty good job summarizing his character as someone awful at showing emotions, a stoic slab of a dude who never responds because he incorrectly assumes everyone knows what he's trying to convey. Think of the classic tsundere character traits and apply them to a 7-foot-tall musclebound teenager's interactions with everyone he meets. He tries so hard to be badass that it loops around and makes him unlikable.
You want a boring Jojo? Giorno. Give me a single aspect of his personality, anything about his character other than "mafia-wannabe fathered by Dio".
>>89622
Part 5 is generally the worst JoJo by far. It's just a bunch of vapid fashion models sighing at each other with Narancia being the only character to bring any kind of drive and levity to the story. I have no idea why Japan likes it so much.
>>89623
Supposedly the translation is at fault for a lot of why Part 5 seems bad, though I don't think any amount of good translation will fix the fact that it's got an absolutely terrible plot, the lamest villain and final battle, ugly art, and poorly used characters. At least Mista is pretty cool.
So apparently Stardust Crusaders is on hiatus until January, because this world is a terrible place filled with pain and suffering.
And now I has a sad.
>>89717
Well part 3 is basically 2 seasons so that makes sense.
Well I was surprised enough by how well animated Stardust Crusaders has been by David's usual standards, so if this is what it takes for the second half to be more than a slideshow like the first two parts I'm willing to accept it. I wish they did have more time budget for them though because just because they don't have stands doesn't mean they aren't still pretty damn good.
New season! Second OP isn't so great though.
>>90651
I prefer the second one, honestly. Still got absolutely nothing on Sono Chi no Sadame and Bloody Stream, though. They kinda started the thing with two showstoppers in a row.
>>90653
Yeah but this one is actually borderline bad. Even the Fate/UBW intro was instantly more memorable and it was straight up vanilla J-pop.
Yeah what the fuck was that shit, how did we get a shitty Jojo op?
Season one themes infinitely superior
Season two themes infinitely inferior
First OP: Tominaga TOMMY Hiroaki
Second OP: Coda
Third OP: Jin Hashimoto
This OP: JO☆STARS ~TOMMY, Coda, Jin~
Methinks the latest OP isn't as good as the first three because the three bands were collabing on it. Cool idea, but perhaps too many ingredients in the pot. The ORAORAORA part at the end with the three singers was great though.
Araki liked the ED: https://twitter.com/anime_jojo/status/553580947602305025
>>90657
I assume by season you mean series because otherwise you are saying Stand Proud is better than Bloody Stream.
>>90661
As far as I understood, Season 1 = Part 1 & 2, Season 2 = Part 3.
It's fighting with the first and last episodes of Battle Tendency for the series as whole, but this episode is easily the best part of Stardust Crusader's so far.
dat ed
>>90746
Eh, I always found that kind of humor too cringeworthy to enjoy. The Mariah chapters IMO are the absolute highlight of Stardust Crusaders.
>>90747
Of course. We only enjoy the finest, most mature non-cringey Japanese youth comic book comedy here.
UnOfficial 「T I E R L I S T」 of Jojo OPs.
BLOODY STREAM
~Sono Chi no Sadame~ = STAND PROUD
~end of THE WORLD
>>90871
>Sono Chi no Sadame
>Anything besides number one
Noooope!
>>90893
Sono Chi No Sadame has a somewhat weak bridge and the arrangement used for the OP isn't the best. On the other hand even if Bloody Stream's refrain isn't as good the song is 100% quality all the way through and it still has the best sequence to this day.
>>90899
Also, I've got a secret/technique for verifying if something is really good.
Listen to it in slo-mo. Bloody Stream is still fantastic! The others, not so much.
>>90901
It's the hypiest, the other themes are good but you up like hearing ~JoooOOOOOOOooooJoooOOOOOOoooo~
>>90902
My favorite part is when the chorus quietly repeats "jojo jojo" like it was a heartbeat. Ties well with the Ripple idea.
>>90908
Joseph is so much the best Jojo he's a primary protagonist in the next part and major plot in the one after that! He has a Stand AND the Ripple. He has the most sex of the Jojos (if you don't count Johnny the "Gyro's Onahole"), survives the most plane crashes, has the most ethnic friends, one of the two who got to hang with Speedwagon, stays sexy until 70, part of the Greatest Generation, beat the most powerful villain in the series and survived atmospheric re-entry after getting dismembered inside a volcano which then erupted.
>>91780
The Kakyoin flashback was just as depressing as I'd expect it to be.
>quickly want to skim through a chapter of SBR to look up something
>fully back into it again
SBR is so fucking good. Goddamn.
Last night I had a nightmare that there was an OVA episode of Stardust Crusaders where Jotaro/Kakyoin was canon. I must hate that pairing even more than I originally thought. Weird because I'm down with or even like every single other popular Jojo slash ship except that one.
>>91955
Wait what? Didn't sound British to me at all, just sounded like he was using his Raiden voice.
>>91955
He's from the aristocracy and (presumably) a lord. No way he'd have a Cockney accent. Even if he tried his grandma would probably smack it out of him.
>>91981
I don't think any Joestar after George I ever really took up the aristocratic mantle. Erina was a commoner to start with and demonstrates a lack of classist sentiment and George II served as an ordinary soldier. So I doubt Joseph, a weird punk who likes comics, ever cared about speaking the King's.
As for his actual lordship, he's a US citizen, which requires relinquishing hereditary titles, so even if he had one he gave it up.
https://vine.co/u/1034219796541390848
Bunch of snatched previews for the dub are up. Thoughts?
The accents are amazingly bad. This is almost exactly the dub I always wanted.
>>92071
Joseph sounds too much like Numbuh One. Weird because the guy already showed he has wide range before as Takarada so now it just looks like he's being lazy. Not to mention it's an inappropriate voice tone for Joseph. He sounds as if he dresses like this.
I actually kind of like it. It's not perfect, but I think it captures his goofy, trickster attitude pretty well.
>>92073
He reminds me of Alfred Ashford for better or worse.
>>92073
Thank you for saying this. I feel like everyone around me is TOO ok with the quality of this dub. I know Jojo is stupid and silly, but the Japanese VA's had some respect for it. The English dub sounds like they don't even care.
I dunno, I'm really skeptical about English dubbing in anime nowadays.
>>92203
My opinion still stands. Dubbing might have gotten better in the past couple of years but none that caught my interest.
>>92399
Sorry, I miss took the Jojo thread for the shounen jump thread.
http://7thjojo.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
Is anyone else playing this?
Its a JJBA rpgmaker game, originally made in Japan but has been translated into english.
Its pretty intense, not just a generic rpgmaker game with a jojo coat of paint.
>Josuke will be voiced by Yuki Ono, not Wataru Hatano
Damnit. Hatano was perfect.
I can't wait for part 4 so I can make an AMV with this song.
//youtube.com/watch?v=aJU4k1Lrhh0
>>92789
If I remember the fighting game and subsequent translation didn't come out until like 1999, and this was made in 1997, which is probably why they were able to get away with it.
IT'S HERE
Don't get the unending praise for Part 4 since only the second half of it was deserving of any real praise and the first half was so-so and riddled with terrible art. Solid first ep plus the anime style looks way better than the manga did at this point.
It's been so long since I've read it, I honestly forgot how long it takes to get to Red Hot Chili Pepper, after which is where Part 4 really starts. I remembered it as being in the first few chapters or so.
>>92884
Well, I did expect a 90's song, but this was the last thing I expected. I'm surprisingly ok with it.
>>92884
Is it bad that I actually legit wanted All Star for the ED?
>>92886
1. That's an amazing idea
2. Unfortunately, it's the wrong time period. All Star was released in 1999, DiU finished up in 1995.
People keep mentioning all star but I can't for the life of me remember what the connection is
So far, DiU has been everything I expected, and more!
>>92884
I loved it!
>>92886
A good choice as well.
>>92888
I have this insane theory because of the HOT FUNNY MEME of the moment. And probably linked with SHREK, and for some reason people now think anything Shrek related it's bad and like it "ironically"(which i found stupid) Hopefully, I'll be wrong with that.
Also, a lot of people complain a lot of the OP not being CG, I think it's pretty neat.
OP is kinda boring. ED is not amazing but it works. Josuke better not end up like Sans from Undertale or Bill Cipher though where all the fangirls fantasize about him beating and raping them because there was a scene where he looked remotely cool once. Because apparently that's the in-thing for Tumblr fandoms to do nowever since the Fifty Shades of Gray movie came out.
>>92891
You, or someone like you, really worries a lot about what tumblr thinks about certain characters and posts about it a lot
who cares, enjoy Jojo
Welp. Bloody Stream is still uncontested as the best Jojo OP so far.
Easy joke but still amusing
>Stand 「The Wall」- this stand seals all those the user sees as "illegal" into the "third world." Unlike other stands, the energy required to use this stand comes not from the user but from the target. The only way to return to the "first world" is to be recognized as "legal."
soooo Jojo on Toonami

>#JojosBizzareAdventure
Jeez it's not that hard to spell.
>>93195
Oh. Ok. Sorry.
But yeah. Spellcheck is your friend. :)
KQ looks great as is. Only D4C and White Snake are better.
>>93241
Nah, the mouth makes it look creepy, which is perfect for Kira.
>>93279
Neither. Jonathan is way too stuck up and will be all in a huff over the mob thing and Dio betrayed both his father and his foster family and there's nothing worse than being a traitor to your own famiglia.
Man, for such an important episode to have that much QUALITY and the big reveal to be so off model is such a major bummer.
I wonder if Jojolion will get a move on soon or if it will just keep weirdly meandering until it's over. SBR had Valentine take on an active role from chapter 60 on. Jojolion is now at 57 and spent its last 2 chapters on inconsequential filler.
>>93367
They did run Hokuto no Ken in a children's magazine for starters.
>>93367
"I can't show you a slightly bloody perfectly circular hole in a women's throat but take a look at this mutilated face. That seems fine."
>>93367
Well, the only reason they did censor that smoking was because Jotaro was a minor. Remember, he was supposed to be 17 during Stardust.
yeah it's literally not legal to broadcast a minor smoking
>>93370
Pretty sure you live in a country where it's all right to show people's heads getting violently crushed on television but it's not all right to show someone touching a vagina affectionately.
http://bato.to/reader#d13212655880710e
...Joshuu why would you even do that?
So Jojo is coming to Toonami, and its gonna be uncensored.
sauce ==> http://ask.fm/Clarknova/answers/138797160169?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=answer_own#_=_
>>93381
I assume that means they're also going to be using the BD versions with all the added animation fixes too.
>>93384
Toonami typically uses whatever the licensor sends the network, but I imagine the licensor also wants to send the best possible product to make the best possible impression. So yeah, I’d count on seeing the BD version.
Poor Toonami viewers having to sit through all of Jonathan's Bland Escapades before getting to the good stuff.
Jonathan is a good boy and does cool things
>>93399
First three and last two episodes of Phantom Blood are pretty good. It's just that the middle REALLY drags.
I started off with Stardust Crusaders back in the day and ended up enjoying Phantom Blood more overall. SC had too much potty humor and "it's up to Edgelord Wesley Crusher to finish off the stand user of the week".
I have a weird relationship with Jonathan. Objectively I think he's pretty boring and Phantom Blood is far and away my least favorite part. And yet, when he does his super in ASB or EOH, I get absurdly hype.
So apparently, we're getting a live-action Duwang movie.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-28/jojo-bizarre-adventure-manga-gets-1st-live-action-film/.106995
>>93421
It does seem like the easiest part to make a movie of, but is it going to be original or an adaptation of any particular arcs?
>>93422
Apparently, they want to adapt the entirety of part 4 and chose that because of its Japanese setting. Since DIU is too long for a two hours film, sequels are being considered. Adaptations of other parts are possible I think. That's what I got from the article.
I'M LETTING THE VOICE OF LOVE TAKE ME SO MUCH HIGHER YOU GUYS
Can't wait for the best fight of the manga to be in the anime. We're so close.
>>93438
We're quit a long way from the final battle with Kira actually.
And we're even further from Grateful Dead and SUPER FAR from Diego and Hotpants vs Funny.
>>93439
I meant the DiU manga specifically. Should have elaborated. Sorry.
Can't wait for Kira, but yeah, I am hyped for Highway Star.
>>93440
Highway Star is the best fight besides Kira yeah (though my favorite actual parts are the bits that aren't fights like the dice game and Tonio).
>>93441
Pucci's actual fights aren't that great for as much as I like the dude. White Snake can just kind of do everything, MiH is more an event than a fight, and by the time C-Moon rolls around you're just kind of waiting for MiH. That bit where Jolyne turns herself into a mobius whatever is pretty great though.
>>93442
I strongly disagree. I think any time Pucci takes the field himself makes for a hype fight no matter who he's up against.
>>93472
This is obnoxious and cringey, but I'm still glad Jojo's is on Toonami, even if I have to go to bed right after because I work early on weekends.
>>93476
What do you get out of watching it on Toonami as opposed to streaming it off of Crunchy or something?
>>93477
The convenience of watching it on a TV. Some of us don't have a Crunchyroll subscription, y’know.
>>93477
Sometimes I just want to watch something on tv. It's more convenient to just crunchyroll it, yeah, but sometimes you just want to watch anime on tv. I dunno. Besides, I am used to anime fans being cringey and obnoxious on the internet.
>>93488
And I will copyright strike you, just walk into the light~
I'm really liking the structure of these latest episodes, where everything is going on at once and it switches perspectives.
The Duwang movie cast is looking pretty cool so far.
https://warnerbros.co.jp/movie/jojo/characters.html
There's a new Jojo manga out.
On one hand its the sign of an oldass franchise getting milked even harder when you get a spinoff written by a different person following side characters from an earlier instalment but on the other its interesting to see Hol Horse as a main character.
