There's whole games in early-access on Steam about generating fantasy maps and then having them play out a simulation. Wonder if any of them are/will be any good.
>>436316 I was a dumb kid, I treated the HoMM games more like an openworld rpg rather than a strategy game where you had to manage your time to beat the enemy cities as they too were out there building strength. Obviously only played single-player.
>>436763 Interesting. First one feels a bit too modern-day-atlas-y for medieval fantasy, but it'd be ideal for Napoleonic or steampunk fantasy. Second one's got that nice 16-bit vibe going for it and should be good for pseudo-JRPG settings.
>>436763 This here looks like its targeting a similar sort of gameplay niche but I don't have any knowledge of it myself so can't vouch for the quality. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1360670/MiniMap_Kingdom/
Just came across a trailer for this and briefly thought it was 'Worldbox God Simulator' to much confusion. So turns out there's another similar world map game. This one seems more focused on smaller details.
