You guys played romhacks recently? Been playing Gold Reforged 97 and as a big fan of Super Gold 97, I must say I really like this. I appreciate the effort that went into the beta mons' sprites and polishing some areas like the deserts, snowfields and the boardwalk. Good stuff

My very favorite rom hacks remain Red++ and Polished Crystal. I have too many games on my Pokemon-like list to try to spend a lot of time on more original ROM hacks; most of them just aren't very interesting.

GS sucks and should've just been a Kanto expansion pack instead of a separate game. Several of the coolest new Pokemon aren't even in Johto, and Silver is the worst rival character across the franchise. The scenario is "We're trying to start the plot."

The art direction is nice, and there's a ton of cool ideas in the games, but they're a long way from the best.

Silver's character development is stupid and backward. He started on even footing with the player, keeps losing to that even footing, and stays an asshole. Then he gets a mudhole stomped in him by the Champion, the strongest guy in the region, and that's when he decides to cool it a little? After beefing with you for no reason all game long?

The other guys are your friends, and their characterization is weak, but they're not ass backwards about it. Silver is just some dude that decided it's on sight with you for no reason.

Yeah, it's one of the reasons I replayed the similar Super Gold 97 several times, and the fact that I like a lot of the betamons helps a lot. One gripe I have with Reforged, though, is that Qwilfish apparently can't be obtained until postgame. That's a bit annoying.
