South Park Gaming thread, from the new RPGs to the classic first-person shooter. All are welcome.
Personally I've gotten ridiculously hyped over Fractured But Whole, makes me keep browsing the same information about it over and over again. If anyone has something new then share it, need to scratch that itch.
Uh…did this really need its own thread? There have only been, what, five or six South Park games? (Not counting FBW.) I mean, if you’re desperate for activity here, you could at least make a thread for a certain genre or company. An FPS thread might actually be interesting, in that we could discuss genre conventions and new entries (good or bad). What the hell is there to discuss about South Park games—that Stick of Truth is the only good (currently published) South Park game?
>>200922 Stone, the FPS south park game was a masterpiece which has never been equaled only the Cerebral Bore comes close to matching the supreme majesty of the Cow Launcher
>"Germany, Austria, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan will receive low violence versions of South Park™: The Fractured but Whole™
So apparently some places are still getting censored versions of the game like before. Will you be able to get around it by buying it on places like Steam?
>>201350 I liked it last season but I'm not digging it this one. I'd like them to go back to episodic next season, or have a few 2-3 parters or something.
This is more /co/ discussion that /cog/ discussion now, BTW, buuuuuuuuuuuut…
The problem of the show’s season-long arcs ultimately lies in Trey and Matt’s attempts to mix self-contained stories in with the season-long arcs. They want to do the “we can make an episode about this in six days” social commentary of a stand-alone episode, but still fit it into a complex storyline. The PC Principal season’s finalé fell flat for that exact reason: Rather than feeling like a solid climax to a season-long storyline with all the dramatic payoff therein, it tried to be a climax to both the complex arc and the stand-alone episode — and it failed on both levels.
>South Park: The Fractured but Whole has been delayed again, according to Polygon. This comes after the game was originally delayed from its Dec. 6, 2016 release date to Q1 2017. The game is now expected to arrive some time between March 2017 and April 2018 - Ubisoft's upcoming fiscal year. South Park: The Fractured but Whole is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
As someone else said, this might be because Trump won the election and fucked up all their plans. Maybe they had to go rewrite the game's script, which would mean creating new assets (animation, voice acting) to match, which would then mean a whole new slew of Q&A testing and whatnot. While a "South Park" episode can be made in six days or less, a video game like "The Fractured But Whole" cannot.
>>202293 You mean "Token Mode" Honestly if that's the gag I'll be on board. "Everyone treats you differently" Being everyone thinks you are Token even when he's in your party.
I'd be hesitant to buy a third South Park RPG, because the endgame of Fractured But Whole was bad.
The rest of the game was fairly good, but the lame Cartman bullshit just dragged on and on and made the whole final part of the game deeply unsatisfying/tedious. The expansions stuff in comparison was good too.
Also the show has been pretty poor for awhile, the pair have lost their touch when it comes to writing.
>>425748 >>425286 Honestly this looks really lame compared to the rpgs, and it sucks they went back to the fantasy roleplaying after the superhero one instead of moving into a third brand new game.
Though the writing of FBW got pretty bad towards the end, doubt it will have gotten any better now.
I can't believe how long South Park has continued to run for. Its basically a more crude zombie simpsons now, made by has-bins that should have stopped years ago.
