>>199637 I'd switch Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess, and I'm not sure if Majora's Mask is really my favorite game. But then, this sort of objective ranking the fandom always tries to get for Zelda is very tiring.
Man, Pat really loves his girlfriend. He seems like a really sweet and caring guy when you get close to him, y'know between the parts where him and his girlfriend are talking mad shit at each other yo.
>>199984 I really don't get the deal with people whining about him being overleveled, so what? Mainly just means he'll die less and less repeating the same sections of the game instead of making progress.
>>199986 He wants to play the game really bad, but agreed to keep it a blind playthrough. That basically just leaves looking for missed item, grinding, farming for item, and PVP in areas he's been in before, which has taken up 75% of his playtime.
>>200046 I did too. It usually happens when you miss the sidepath that leads to Rosaria and keep exploring the area in front of the boss and find the elevator down. Weirdly, Pat never noticed that side of the elevator, hence the "contraption does not move" near the big door.
I suspect Pat may regret lowering Vitality to 20. I had it at the same level around that point, and the ~250 HP extra HP you get at the softcap tends to make the difference between dying in 1-2 hits and 2-3 (fucking Dancer grab). Though he might just be Embered 100% of the time.
>>200285 Because they could have done the same thing on their website without going to a third party. I don't think the website failed, they failed the website.
>>200287 >Because they could have done the same thing on their website without going to a third party. Well gee Teeth, I didn't know you had access to their books!
I should've really watched the GB E3 streams live rather than the Best Friends and not the other way around. Watching GB after SBFP is just a fucking bummer. No excitement, just cold hard professionalism after having gone through multiple decades of E3s. That's what I usually appreciate about them, but it just seems callous and drab in comparison to a bunch of friends who are genuinely excited for all manner of videogames.
>>200325 >a bunch of friends who are genuinely excited for all manner of videogames. >"Oh! That sounds like fun. I'll watch their Nintendo segment!" >Pat: "I literally wanna die." >...
>that John Boyega story from Jesse Cox on the latest Co-Optional Podcast Oh geez. Hope he was just having a bad day because yikes. If they really end up going through with it and I hope people don't blame it on racism.
>>200569 You mean that increase in the rolls of the Oscar voters? Heck I could see Boyega at least doing what he's obligated to do and watch the films instead of just checking the box for some reason.
>>200581 The rumors where the staff were thinking of killing off Finn because Boyega was being too toxic on set. I hope the rumors aren't true in the first place, but if it comes to pass, I can understand where they're coming from. And I hope it doesn't end up like what happened with the first Aunt Viv on Fresh Prince, where people argued she was fired because of racism since she was replaced with a lighter-skinned actress, when most of the interviews indicate it was because she was just really hard to work with as a person.
Guys I think this black guy should be removed from the movie but not because I'm a racist it's because he's totally a huge asshole I swear and other Let's Play related posts
>>200588 //youtube.com/watch?v=wF96faxaV-s?t=1h6m28s Could be Boyega was just in a particularly bad mood that moment, and Jesse Cox just made up the rumors about him being egotistical on set out of spite, but that doesn't sound like Jesse's kind of thing. On the other hand Boyega's castmates seem on good terms with him so the rumor itself could also be bogus too.
//youtube.com/watch?v=Iub1ZvxX5Cs It all comes full circle. For people who don't know, Matt brought the old SF cartoons to the attention of some Youtube Poopers on Shoryuken.com and posted the M. Bison scenes we all know and love for their use.
>>200588 https://soundcloud.com/starwarsbookclub/swncbc-episode-10-rogue-ones-new-info He talks about it and the rumors towards the beginning. Still seems like it was just one big misunderstanding though that friend's story doesn't sound good.
I wonder if they'll ever play Sonic Colors. Arin admitted during Super Mario Galaxy that he prefers to play the broken Sonic games over the okay ones, because they're more entertaining to experience. However, Dan seems honestly perplexed by how mismanaged the Sonic brand is when compared to other franchises like Mario and Zelda, so I would love to see his reaction towards Colors.
OK so I'm currently saying that Dan will be joining JV's RV adventure, and then after that will take up residence in Jersey for Bianca's family and GBEAST.
We've got the bombcast to look forward to, and he's doing an AMA on the 2nd.
>>200766 it seems so? He got an RV hookup and sent out feelers to Ryckert and Boyes, then Trites was saying yesterday that he'd gotten an unusually insane email from Dan, then we got the UPF thing!
Jeff also tweeted out some wrestling thing after UPF which people interpret as meaning Dan's going East, I say it's both
Dumb question for those who finished Nier (spoilers obv): If both humans (Gestalts) and Replicants all go extinct because of Nier's actions at the end of the game, then how are there still humans still around to be able to flee to the moon in Automata? Unless this is only a pseudo-sequel to Nier and takes place in the future of one where the Shadowlord never died or the Gestalt project worked?
>>200876 >https://twitter.com/InfiniteNineDX/status/765911942640771077 Given Square Enix's recent history, I expected this to happen, but take a year or two. Color me pleasantly surprised.
So Youtube has put out a new TOS for video creations. Yea its looking mighty vague and dicey covering whatever the advertiser declares and "bad" The Languge Policing thing being the real kicker.
>>201014 Yea know a few that will be flagged and their vids stripped of monetization over the langage TOS alone. Course one of those in particular is one of their richest and most popular/powerful. Pewdiepie.
Interested to see how this all unfolds when their biggest talent pool is at risk because the advertisers think that Youtube is some kinda Childrens Network.
>>201014 Like Netflix and those innovators before them. Plenty with the connections and following to push this. But YouTube is google. Its gonna be a fight.
Finished the Nier LP and I'm not really as impressed with the endings as I was hoping to be. Still feels like most of the emotional impact of the game is wrenched out of you by the amazing OST rather than the writing itself earning it, even if the parts that were literally text were good. Being able to understand the shadows was kinda cool but they retreaded the same "reveal" a lot of times.
>>201041 I hate how DIOoH ignores Jonathan. I fucking can't stand it. And the worst part is they stand around talking about how DIO's body is gone when no, it's standing right there calling itself Jonathan Joestar.
>>201041 How the hell is Star Platinum The World a better stand than Gold Experience Requiem? And what's with the series undercutting Giorno so hard? I know the manga didn't do a great job with his backstory as Dio's son but the game would've given a great opportunity for it.
Plus the lack of trying for some more out-there but potentially cool combos like Jonathan/Jotaro, Joseph getting to meet his grandfather when he was still alive, Jolyne meeting her great grandfather as a young man who's kinda similar to her, Gyro/Caesar, Jonathan/Giorno/Dio trio interactions, Giorno/Jolyne, and so on. Cripes.
So, I sure most people here don't watch Game Grumps (or any more) or hate Egoraptor. But here is a video of an edit compilation of Arin and Dan play OoT with spliced in comments highlighting Arin's hypocrisy of his Sequelitis video on OoT.
>>201052 Eh, I like Steam Train as something to have in the background as one big playlist, although I tend to skip the "multiple death" platformers like VVVV, and those are rarely fun to watch no matter who plays them.
>>201052 I watch Game Grumps, and I thought their OoT playthrough was pretty fun. Half the charm of it was Dan goading Arin into admitting 'c'mon, you secretly love it, don'tcha?'
That and the crab that follows Princess Zelda in her dreams. "Fuck your father! Fuck your father! FUCK YOUR FATHER!
>>201053 A few times. I could only get an hour into it before I had to stop watching it. When I say hypocrisy here, I'm talking about how he gives 2D Zelda a free pass and shits on 3D Zelda concerning puzzles like the eye puzzles. And the way he plays cause him to have his problem with waiting for everything in OoT.
>>201054 The Beard Bros completion run of Super Meat Boy was pretty good. The banter was good. Jirard was very skilled. Well, when he wasn't tired, which I don't recall him being tired enough times for me to be frustrated at it. The only part that took dragged on was the I Wanna Be The Guy side level, but that was to be expected.
>>201055 I remember a while back when I posted a Game Grumps link I got some flack for it, so I've been hesitant to post the little bit of Game Grumps I catch these days. I more or less dropped Game Grumps shortly after Dan and Arin started up Link to the Past again. I've move onto Beard Bros and now I yell at my computer screen a lot less these days. I do like Dan, but I hate it when he's just a yes man to Arin. Snarky Dan is so much better.
>>201065 Any name of a show. I know of Game Shakers about the game dev kids and then there is Glitch Techs which is an animated show still early development.
Applied for a writers position on that one. Still a few open production slots so I'd wager its not started up yet till they get everyone in the new office.
So its possible given Nick wants to connect with youth markets and popular Youtubers would be that along with maybe having Arin do voice work for a character.
>>201066 Arin's mentioned doing voice work on the channel and he's a talented animator in his own right, so coupled with Dan's music skills it wouldn't surprise me if Nick brought them on-board for something. Still, rumours be rumours, it might be as simple as Arin voicing an extra on Loud House and somebody's imagination getting the better of them.
Was trying to find an old lets play of that first person brawler game 'Breakdown', but it seems to have been lost from the internet, the only ones I can find on youtube are a pair of really shitty attempts at it.
Something similar happened to me: I went looking for a multi-part playthrough of the most recent Splatterhouse—one that was done not long after the game’s release, in fact—and it seems to have disappeared from YouTube.
//youtube.com/watch?v=H4v2DmnHa7c This was in my recommended videos list and while it made me sad due to obvious reasons. it also made me kinda realize that GB just doesn't do goofy shit like this any more.
Hey that was David Cage first try at a game in a film style. Sure he's never gotten better really and all his games while looks a bit better still come off as stiff and emotionally stunted and clumsily plotted. Maybe that will work with Detroit since it's actually robots finding out things.
I'm so torn on watching Dodger stream. On one hand I like how emotionally invested she gets in stuff, but on the other hand she's just not very bright, so stuff can become fucking excrutiating to watch when she gets stuck on the simplest things.
>>201457 It seems pretty obvious that the actual aggression between team members Omikron managed to inspire would be a major reason for that, though also perhaps stress over generating new content for the channel since he mentioned something about changing the way they do it when he gets back.
>>201458 I think all that rancor was mainly played up for fun. Matt has had a more passive and lazy mien for the last month in all LPs and he must have more to deal with and think about than we expect.
He's cohming bak. By the time Detroit: Becoming Human is out at least.
>>201477 Liam was probably my least favorite of the four, but I'm still gonna miss that man and his Vita. Wonder if they're gonna have a replacement or if it's going to be a three-man team onward.
Liam was never the "me too" guy and I don't know how one comes to that conclusion when he was always for the weird outlier games. The big thing he brought to the table though was always the burns or being an absolutely incredible straight man.
Watching a FF15 LP. Wow that Narrative collapses so hard at the games midpoint, I've no want to play it anymore. Also the seams split in places and one comment in particular by an NPC you can tell at one point the game was meant to have a larger Party roster.
But really it starts off as an okay Road Trip with light on story and no actual good side quests aside from the Tours and other such events that spur group bonding. Then it just starts falling down a cliff as things happen off screen as the game speeds towards very linear conclusion.
>>201536 I don't know if quitting all out is needed. I think they just need to find out what they really want from the games. I will say VI and XV feel as if they could fit in the same world that being the varied bits of tech and the industrial nature of some towns especially the inclusion of many secondary weapons that were part of Edgar's arsenal.
Notes I'd make to fixing things. Have it be an optional Turn Based system similar to Dragon Age games, add a menu system for summons as it is being random and the button press mechanic looked broken as fuck.
Better quests, Witcher 3 did Side Quests Right, and follow that mold in writing along with building an open world, I loved the car and the traveling.
And same with Witcher 3 you can have emotionless/aloof but still make them feel like they care and not make them come off like a child in those moments.
This can work if they'd just figure out what they want.
>>201535 I thought the ending was really strong in spite of all the problems. It's something that would've been good had they fleshed it out so I'm hoping the patches will do something about that. The skeleton of the game is strong enough that it can be salvaged, as opposed to XIII which was a garbage concept given way more time and budget than it deserved.
Woolie and Pat play Parasite Eve II Dark Souls and PE2 is a good combo.
//youtube.com/watch?v=sQw6NadC7GE Also watch Woolie and Pat watch the Nintendo Switch presentation because Liam fucked off to his own Twitch channel and Matt is still on vacation....on his own Twitch channel.
>>201543 Well yea there is enough that it could be a very well made sendup to VI in feelings. But we need a bit more meat on those bones. Too many off screen things and others with very little game presence that gives them no real emotional payoff for the player.
Its actually a real shame how much it falls apart at that one transition point. And kinda laughable at the utter tease of it all.
>>201613 The circumstances he's dealing with have changed even if he's still doing some streaming of his own, if such changes have helped his condition then more power to him.
>>201613 Best Friends is a business, they have a work schedule and an office, that puts stress on you and forces you to depend on other people and be depended on.
Liam is a gamer who enjoys games, he's not working while he streams, he's playing.
Yknow Matt has the worst twitter posts recently, either its terrible tastes in comics or retweeing the worst of the American political social-media drivel or him and his least sensible fans swooning over Hitomi Tanaka while linking to her twitter profile in a way that has become slightly creepy.
>>201642 >the worst of the American political social-media drivel >"It's bad that Trump screams about one guy with a machete failing to hurt anyone in the Louvre but hasn't said a peep about one of his supporters killing six innocent muslims in Quebec" >the worst
>>201646 >Taste is literally subjective, besides he's always been upfront about loving hard garbage. If it's subjective as you said, do not call other people's tastes hard garbage.
>>201704 I'm not contradicting myself, hard garbage is a genre, essentially it's just how Canadians refer to B-movies and other such lower grade genre media.
>>201715 >Technically 26 for each letter of the alphabet Even if they are really minor, that's a pretty clever play on the series' "Ending A-E" naming convention.
How content-heavy is this game, exactly? Checking Liam's playlist totals to ~27 hours, but I haven't started watching, so the only thing I know about how he played is that there was a decent amount left for a second playthrough (which he decided to stop streaming after a short time).
>>201716 Probably a lot, last I heard was 10hr for "first" playthrough, which comes out to about 30hr for the main story, then maybe 60hr if you want to 100% the game.
>>201814 I started to feel legit bad for her as it went on since she's actually crying (though not to the point it stops her playing).
She sucks at that puzzle, then everyone sees her sucking at that puzzle which just flusters her more and further degrades her concentration... plus she seems to drink alot when streaming? Her sippy-cup even has a fandom nickname.
I get that. Though I feel this one is a lot less hard to take as its the failure of the player character foremost and not the actions of another that just leads us around with a web of lies and then doesn't answer for it.
Another live action britis game with Jesse and Dodger. Could have a disappointing ending like Firewatch or strange tails games (the ending to this lets play dose end like a limp dick), but their are said to be multiple endings so. I'm more interested in the Live action detective game they did and the sequel it might have.
I kinda stopped listening to the Bombcast. It wasn't really a conscious decision. It was more like I found myself putting it on hold more and more to do other things and not resuming it again. And after some time I was just looking at the downloaded file and going like "nah, not right now". Still listening to Beastcast, though.
>>202177 Same honestly. I like them enough as is but I'm having more fun with other casts at the moment so more and more I'm catching up on them as filler background noise compared to others.
Watching through a few Cuphead LPs. Almost nobody bothers to use the parry move cept when forced.
Sofar enjoying Cox and Crendor the most since the game seems to fit better as a story with 2 players and they keep the humor up and still play decently.
>>202325 As a coherent plot it's pretty fucking dumb and ridiculously tasteless. As a work of speculative fiction and as an LP I'm enjoying it a lot. It's not the thing I would play on my own without these guys to take the piss. Also I find the creepy sex shit hilarious in its terribleness.
>>202326 I mean some of the nitty gritty scifi stuff IS cool, like how being in space still totally fucks you up. But it's dressed up in just
the worst garbage
practically one of the first things that happens is the main character going on a rant about transwomen, and oh you better believe we're just dropping a hot F bomb in the middle of this!
>>202330 Apparently that particular bit is an artifact of the translation, in the original Japanese he was more matter-of-fact about it. Likewise with his "I look like a fag" line, which was more like "I look like a loser" in the original Japanese.
anyway I'm wrapping it up, on the penultimate episode, admittedly the silly anime Flashbacks As We Load The Magazine followed by the crazy 1980's Cop Rampage is prettttty good
>>202330 When I saw that line my first thought was he was more upset about the place being known for its sex tourism, it just happened to be in the form of transsexuals because hey, sex in my scifi. Not a dig at transsexuals in general. >>202332 I can vouch for at least the fag line and sugar tits being the result of "colorful" translations. Keep in mind this was done in 2009 back when people on the Internet were a lot less good with these things.
>>202333 >When I saw that line my first thought was he was more upset about the place being known for its sex tourism, it just happened to be in the form of transsexuals because hey, sex in my scifi. Not a dig at transsexuals in general. He says "so-called women"
Matt is such a fucking Marvel Shill, jesus christ.
He lines up to support the likes of Slott who have done nothing but shit all over the comics (intentionally rather than write good comics, to get a reaction from the idiots who still buy Marvel instead of dumping all that Big 2 nonsense)
It goes beyond just just reading what he likes or liking cheesy/hilarious schlock in particular.
On the other hand Midget Lex Luthor (and his attractive sickly boozy henchwoman) is best boy.
>>417472 It feels so weird. I've been following them so long (since way back when /mspa/ was a thing, god), but you could tell this was coming. At the same time it seemed like things might hold together. The timing is strange, when they're in the middle of unfinished LPs. But Liam leaving and Matt's hiatus, the guys all starting solo channels and projects, Youtube's monetization policy and algorithm making things harder for everybody... and I really don't want to get into the speculative/gossipy/discoursey side of things but "Matt and Pat are no longer friends" didn't surprise me, either.
Oh for sure. Defiantly been a true anime with them seeing the outpouring from the lives they touched doing what they do. They've had so much influence and yet always pretty much remained who they are. Their impact on Gaming has been immense. Pretty much instrumental in saving Japan Gaming in some aspects.
Wish them the best in that. Hope that maybe we still get some LPs from Woolie and Pat maybe. I wouldn't mind Twitch Streams for it. Heck even some big Youtubers have said that Twitch is looking like a viable option as YouTube continues to collapse.
>>417636 >"Why would anyone read a book, just watch the film" There's actually things you can do with a screenshot style that you can't do via video, works well with certain genres of games over the course of a thread on a forum.
Read back over this thread and it was kind of eerie, seeing people talk about Two/Super Best Friends so much from before the break up.
Just recently Pat moved all the way across to the other side of Canada with his wife so he's not even in the same city as the rest. Though him and Woolie still do their podcast, since they got a remote setup going-on for a long time due to Covid.
