>>190281 For some reason, what's most remarkable for me is that the girl almost looks like a girl and not like some realdoll with a weirdly colored wig.
>>190290 I feel like the same could be said of most of the men too in Final Fantasy as of late. Holy fuck so many of the designs in FFXIII were just awful.
Not all news is good news: SWERY's new game was announced to come out... well today. Basically its being sent out to die. Also Yakuza's finally being translated... into classical Chinese. But don't worry, Sega Console Girls is coming to English!
>>190296 In general. And Nomura is noteworthy for how much passion he puts into his projects, and pushes hardcore for them to happen. Not to mention him having actual control over his shit. I mean KH3 is fucking happening after 10 years, despite dwindling interest and sales, and it looks incredible. You can't say that about many visionaries like Kojima and Keiji Inafune, who were used and exploited, having their influence on their creations ripped away from them. Or even in America with people like Tim Schafer, struggling to hold onto a career.
>>190291 It's so weird how his character designs fluctuate between amazing and god-awful. X and XIII were terrible (VII wasn't all that great either, but it's still better than those and it was his first job anyway) but this and VIII are great.

Are you sure you pay attention to the industry because aside of Inafune losing Megaman you're totally wrong about these. Double Fine has only been growing (they're a fucking PUBLISHER now) and Kojima basically runs Konami. He continues to make Metal Gear just to fund the other weird shit he does.
>>190309 It fucking shows. Nice seeing people dressed in actual clothes. It does make the game more *grounded* but at the same time, in that same sense of groundedness, it does feel more Japanese. Like, the characters in the game and unmistakeably Japanese. Personally, I feel that's a good thing! Identity is a good thing to have. But I can understand if that view varies from person to person.
Well, blond prettyboy dude looks a lot better facewise compared to his previous more generic appearance. And Glasses Touchdown is looking NMH as usual.
>>190389 >>190309 http://www.novacrystallis.com/2013/03/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-fashion-designer-roen-outs-final-fantasy-xv/ Is Roen the same guys they did that ultra-creepy "photo shoot" of the FF13 trilogy characters with?
While the faces and most of the designs look pretty great the hair on most of them is atrocious. Nomura's spikey bishie hair designs look OK when it's still rendered in 2D or stylized 3D like Kingdom Hearts/Crisis Core, hell it was sort of OK even for Advent Children. But for a realistic 3D style, you just end up with the technicolor kooshball afros everyoone had in Final Fantasy XIII.
>>190396 >While the faces and most of the designs look pretty great the hair on most of them is atrocious. Have you seen Japanese scene hair? Because that's what it looks like.
It's good that there is something apparently being worked on after all of this time, JRPG boy band roadtrip simulator or not, but SE has been pushing this game up to 9 years in development before they're starting to decide to even show that there actually is a Versus 13/15. And fuck trying to make the demo part of a $59.99 preorder deal for a lack-luster PSP game being sold as a PS4 title. You could have at least bundled it with Agito.
>>193882 This game looks really really good I think. And I haven't been into a final fantasy post-nintendo. Dunno if that says more about me or the game.
>>193891 I am amazed at how basic the combat is honestly, like I see what it's going for but it's a million light years behind everything else doing it, like there is much more here than there is in Tales of Symphonia, just a bizarre stealth system, running out of magic causing a status effect and the teleport sword.
Also I've never seen a game plant it's feet SO FIRMLY in the Uncanny Valley, everything about the characters makes your brain scream "THIS IS WRONG, THIS DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT."
>>193895 Not liking the design =/= design is in the uncanny valley, graphical fidelity is not an issue, they look human just fine, they're just poorly dressed (also those are just 3d versions of classic monster designs, go look up the elephant guys for example)
>>193896 No, I find the design just fine, but they've tried to make them look too human, it's like Advent Children, it's uncanny valley, not disliking the designs.
Maybe its because I'm finally getting on the MonHun train but man, its really clear how the series has started to lay its prints in the industry. First Metal Gear with PW and now the MH jokes I felt were totally appropriate. For a moment there I did think he was gonna carve up the creatures he killed!
>>193895 >Also I've never seen a game plant it's feet SO FIRMLY in the Uncanny Valley, everything about the characters makes your brain scream "THIS IS WRONG, THIS DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT." It actually looks really good, I think. There's a degree of stylization that fits in just right (the hair is the big standout for saying "hey, brain? this aint real, take it easy for a while, I got this.")
The one issue I've got is the english lip syncing. It looks really fake and overdone, but hopefully it can be filed under "growing pains".
>>193896 >they're just poorly dressed They're the best dressed JRPG characters in history. so yeah, their outfits suck
Actually no, I really like the main character's outfit. Its clearly for a certain body type and skin tone so it'd never fit me, but the shirt and trouser cuts are actually what's being worn casually today in european and asian cities. And I really like the colour accents on the boot treads.
