>>119056 > tfw possibly no direct comic sequel about Korra and Asami's adventure in the Spirit World > tfw their little heartfelt moment is ruined much like Aang and Katara's
>>119048 I was listening to Republic City Dispatch and apparently they mentioned how some fans pointed out that there was a hidden bisexual flag right before they enter the portal.
I thought this was just silly fan speculation, but holy crap, the colors are actually there in order.
>>119072 Its going to be a lengthy discussion. Doug has always been about not talking down to children and what they can handle in their media. It'll be interesting to see where he thinks things are going.
The vLog's up, and, yeah, most of it's about Asami and Korra getting together. http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/korra-vlogs-the-final-episode-7131033
Summary? They're glad that they did it, though they wished that they were able to establish it more explicitly within the show beyond the hints scattered through the latter two seasons BUT they understand WHY they couldn't show more due to the network the show being produced on. If anything they seemed to think that Varrick and Zhu Li getting together was more forced.
Aside from that they seemed to dig both the finale and the show itself as a whole (despite the dicking around Nick did from season two onwards), and are glad that they managed to make some history with the first bi character in a western kid's show. :)
Now they're going to do vlogs on the Gravity Falls shorts and OTGW. Yay!
>>119080 I've seen some upset and say this didn't go far enough and that this wasn't real representation. But I think the majority get that at this moment this is as far as things could go and even then they toed the line. But then we look at all the press and its overwhelmingly positive towards this development.
Someone on leddit took 30 youtube reactions to The Scene and spliced them all together. I urgently recommend you turn your volume down to about 33% of your normal level
Think Nick will do anything with this new admiration and good will or will it be squandered and just ignored while they continue the easy money path? And if they do who will be next to pick it up and go with it?
>>119080 OK that's kinda what I figured as much. Just wish they could've done more to establish Asami as an actual character with those three seasons they had though. That to me is probably my major issue with the pairing (aside from its godawful fanbase but you can just ignore those).
I've never been a Korrasami shipper, and I was completely fine with Korra ending up alone for a while, but I've had some thoughts: season 3 was almost perfect, but in retrospective I think it lacked some romance (good romance, not shitty love triangles).
And yeah, I'm not a shipper, but I got to admit the scene in the finale was THE most romantic one ever seen in Avatar, nothing comes close (and let's face it, Kataang was cute and Sokka/Suki were a nice couple but love has never been ATLA's strong point).
The talk at night, the wonderful music, the freaking colors... Even the concept of vacation in the spirit world was just lovely, it could've ended with a simple and way less original dance, but this was as Korra put it, perfect.
Awww gonna get so much cute art then. Would love for someone from the crew to put out a possible canon idea of what the Betrothal Necklace would look like.
>>119116 They're moving way too fast! You've got to wait till the honeymoon period of the relationship is over to make sure you still like each other once the sex gets less frequent and you've started to see one another's real flaws!
Makes me want to dig out my old 2nd Sino-Japanese War AU and fast-forward to the present day so I can drop Korra into modern Hong Kong. Y'know, for variety's sake.
>>119128 Sleeping Dogs Korrasami. Korra the Cop trying to find the balance. Asami the troubled industrialist trying to recover her families fortunes after recent crackdowns on private property and corporate rights.
>Korrasami family! So, I received a couple of asks about Korra and Asami starting a family, and I was like, WHY NOT?! XD They love children and know how to deal with them so I doodled three kids (I started with one but then my hand slipped. Whoops!).
>In my head canon they first intended to adopt one child, but ended up adopting two at once because they were siblings and didn’t want to be separated (the girl in red and the boy in blue). And one year later Korra found an abandoned baby boy on the streets (the boy in green), who became the girls’ third child and who Korra decided to name Hiroshi, in honor of Asami’s father.
I keep reading about how this ship in particular has helped a lot of people with things in their life, with its resolution being seen as a positive thing. Rather an interesting thing to read about.
I’m not the least bit surprised. It’s amazing what some fair representation in the media can do for people, especially in media aimed towards younger audiences (which typically doesn’t press for diversity beyond race or gender/sex and often twists ‘diversity’ into pure tokenism).
>>119139 >Watch some more movies, kids. I can only think of one kids' movie made in America that had an openly homosexual couple in it—Paranorman. And even that was just a throwaway mention at the end of the movie, from a side character. Not a main character.
Show me a movie aimed towards pre-teens with a higher-quality representation of gay people than Korra.
And yes I know you're going to say "Korra wasn't aimed towards pre-teens", but it still aired on Nick so yeah, it kinda was. And even then, non-"mature" Western animation—mainstream, "all ages", major-studio-made animation—hardly ever goes near the idea of showing a gay person, much less hinting at a gay relationship.
>>119141 Pretty much goes with Anime too establishing any type of girl/girl relationship as as school girl thing. Other than The Major is there any anime with an adult woman showing an interest a healthy interest in the same sex?
No. No, I don’t. And even if there is, I would appreciate not seeing Tumblr Nose turned into such a prevalent trend across Tumblr. It honestly looks like people have a fucking clown fetish or some shit.
I do like one of the common ideas is Asami going with a necklace for Korra and Korra going for a ring with Asami. Each embracing a piece of the others culture.
Asami using a further miniaturized plasma cutter to carve her medallion for the necklace and Korra bending metals into the proper shape.
There are a few cringeworthy pieces of art in this compilation from the Wedding Day event but there's a lot of really good stuff here with a few quotes from fans at the end that illustrate how this pairing is important to them identity-wise
Pic of Asami being kinda lewd and then tumblr assclowns use it to harass the artist and claim its being ablest because Korra is in a wheelchair or some such shit. Reason why I only really hit tumblr for art. As long as that artist hasn't been harassed into closing their account.
>claim its being ablest because Korra is in a wheelchair or some such shit
Of course, the same idiots would probably scream and yell about persecution if you pointed out how Korra was actually in a wheelchair during the Book Three finalé. Fuckin’ Social Revenge Warriors, man.
>>119222 Still giggle and grin like an idiot when it comes up. It was the freaking moon shot of longshots, they'd never do it they said. And then it happened.
The gallery is a happenin' joint on opening night! Smack right in the middle of this pic is a pair of Korra and Asami cosplayers too. I spot a granny Toph on the bottom left.
>>119237 I'd really like to see some broaching the subject of where do things go from here. Not just with Legend of Korra and their relationship going forward (hopefully with comics) But also other expressions of this in media. Seems to be a big subject with Greg Weisman as he pushed for inclusion in Young Justice but was shot down and maybe Rebels before he left.
Be interesting to talk to him and ask if he thinks not only in Korra and Asami being allowed to be shown as a couple but also the strong support shown for them among the public.
>>119240 Less fallout more the schism between executives and those that produce content. One side willing and wanting the other being hesitant to take the next step.
Still fun the amount of salt that pops up on /co/ when someone makes a thread about this. So many that dedicated themselves to hating the show, and now it'll never be forgotten.
>>119243 /co/ has that strange hate of Korra on a few levels and it got boosted by the ending with that being the "pandering" that sets them off. Really mad that the show was wasted by that ending and those that are Makorra shippers get really mad since it looked like it was going to end with him getting a second chance before Korra went off to talk with Tenzin and then Asami.
There would have been a time where discussion would have been about Nick and how they messed up in not allowing them to end with a kiss given how others shows just did it (and even sung a song about being a couple) But that kinda discussion seemed to have gone to Tumblr and Reddit and left 4chan quite some time ago.
>>119246 Yea more attesting to them feeling burned out a bit. Which I hope is more towards where they were working and not on what. I'd just hate to see them ending up disliking the Avatar stuff as a whole.
>>119248 Oh yes, maybe get a Netflix series going. And have MIR animate it since they'll be there anyway. Sometimes I wonder what would have changed with the show had Trigger said yes at the start of Legend of Korra production.
>>119255 Pretty much. I'm leaving it open because, now that the CP is stopped, it's not hurting anything. But it is on life support, and if large changes are ever afoot will likely get the axe unless new life is breathed into it.
>>119259 Not like it updated that much. Well its over now and it'll be a while till the new shows by the creators come out. Now if people posted here grabs of those getting enraged or claiming "death of the author" as a reason to discredit Korrasami. Those are funny sad in that some are so enraged over the to still be mad. Course its part of that strange what some people did was snark to be trolling turned into what some people actually believe over on /co/
>>119324 Sarcasm or not, here is your link ==> http://boards.4chan.org/u/thread/1855999/atlalok-korra-thread-verboten-makolin-edition
And I recommend https://archive.moe/u/ once the internal 4chan catalog stops going OR there are deleted posts you really want to see. Or just use archive.moe from the outset. Your call.
I can't even claim sarcasm. I know /u/ exists, but I thought anon was talking about a 4chan offshoot called "4ch/u/" where it's supposed to sound like "four-chu" like the Japanese onomatopoeia for a kiss.
