IGN Interview About the Finale, the Upcoming Korra Game and Book Four http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/08/25/the-legend-of-korra-game-release-date-and-new-mode-plus-what-to-expect-in-book-4?utm_campaign=ign+main+twitter&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social
Stuff revealed thus far,
The videogame will be released on October 21st/22nd.
There will be a new villain in Book 4 and a new threat for Korra to face
Bryan about the new threat: “It all ties in. You’ll see how it all ties in to Book 3.”
The airbenders will be a jedi-like peacekeeping force in Book 4.
What's the chance of us seeing the Fire Nation and Honora? We've seen what's happened to all the other places and the Earth Kingdom is still probably going to be important next season.
Considering they focused on Toph's family in this season, chances are we'll be seeing Zuko's next time in the show... Well, it's the last chance they'll have isn't it?
Wouldn't it be weird if it turned out the reason why Toph disappeared is that, like Iroh, she actually ascended to the Spirit World? If only because she's the last person you'd expect to manage to do such a thing.
>>117917 Super Toph coming back to walk the earth. Or maybe shes Transcended Pysical Form and is now actual Living Rock. Book four ends with Toph Statue of Liberty Moment. Transcend Star Wars go straight into Ghostbusters
So in the new trailer for season three (yes, after all of this Nicktoons will be airing the rest of Book Three later this month), they accidentally included... what looks like two clips from Book Four of a character acting evilly.
Apparently the Nick trailers for Korra are notorious for including spoilers for the following season, though I think that this is the first time I can remember it happening.
I am curious as to why said person might be evil, considering they've already confirmed that they'd have a seperate agenda to that of the Red Lotus, Amon etc.
I think think its going to be them battling the Red Lotus and likely having a ideology that is geared toward Total Control vs Anarchy. Remember the Pai Sho game with Bo Lin and Asami both using different play styles. (Strategy vs Chance, Order vs Chaos). I am adoring the amount if Semblance we are seeing with that game and Bo Lin asking Korra to standardize (create balance) to the game. I was wondering where the other part of that was going to come in. I hope the Airship Captain joins up with Korra leading the third faction.
Book 3 and 4 really getting deep with Metaphors and Imagery. Which is why I can't shake theire being a lot of meaning between Scenes that mirror each other from past books.
I really hope people caught onto that. Maybe Korra will play Pai Sho with Asami while she recovers. Get frustrated and then have her revelation.
>>117965 This is just so interesting, it's the kind of foreshadowing we've been missing since Azula's first appearance in ATLA season one. What is she? If she's red lotus, why did she save Korra's father?
>>117983 still think Nick is being terribly short sighted with their handling of the show. "Good, now nobody will ask us to make more girl lead action shows."
They may not ask you to make anything else if you are going to be this shit at it you chucklefucks.
Because it's not just what you handle but how you do it. I mean Dreamworks was yanked about similarly for years with the Monsters vs Aliens, Mattel with the Dreamhouse pilot. Nick is not looking to be a good place to have anything with female leads, that aren't live action fodder.
I'd wish to have a hope that maybe they'll start expanding into digital with new stuff. But that "see it only here" nonsense before they flipped it doesn't leave me with hope.
>>117989 Which would force them to draw her butt with definition like when we do get rare butt shots of her great rear. And no 'clothing' change, just a switch back to Book 2's style except for the modified belt.
I guess if they go into a volcano or something someone can comment if she's hot in that getup.
Not too keen on her hair even if it means she'll keep it loose for a while. Bob cut doesn't suit her in the concept art, and it doesn't suit her here. Though it isn't as short as it could be, I'd rather not be reminded of Jinora or Opal.
>>117984 Who cares. Nickelodeon is dead and done at this point. Having to even go there weekly to watch the show was a burden for me. I'm glad they cut ties to Korra; now they can go back to airing Spongebob reruns and other obnoxious live-action shows for their ten year old girl crowd. Of six people.
>>117987 I'm more interested in the background. I know it's not guaranteed to matter, since it's basically just promotional art, but it looks like the Spirit World. I wouldn't be shocked if she had one or two episodes exploring the Spirit World and meditating/getting more comfortable with herself.
>>117993 Nick is now putting Turtles in that 8PM death slot, but they at least they get that rerun on Sunday at 11AM. But yea Two shows being the only ones I watch is why I've been digital purchase with Nick for a while now.
Spirit World would be interesting. Seeing Korra jump around and stuff talking with Iroh and thinking on how she can best be The Avatar. Then its back to the real world, and maybe the chair still.
Hm, anyone else think that the implied maglev train that Varrick and Suyin's huband were working on would be part of the plot in some manner? ...At least I think that they said they were working together on something that combined trains and magnets, so a maglev would make sense.
Man, wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth for Asami, right when she gets her business on track selling airships and possibly running freight, Varrick bankrupts her again with trains that can carry more people and cargo much faster than her planes and airships can.
>>118004 I could see it as high speed transit through the Earth Kingdom linking them together though not the Fire Nation and Water Tribe areas, least for a good hundred years or so. depending on the size of time skip I say possible High Speed Line between Ba Sing Se, Zaofu and Republic City
>>118008 Maybe we'll see Varricks storehouse for inventions and such and that old drill being one of the things he's been tinkering with for tunneling. Or time skip and something like that is already in use for transatlantic tunnel type system construction. Dude has two parts of a system in development.
Kind of depressing to think that in, his own way, Varrick will probably have a larger impact on the future than characters like Asami.
Like, she's smart, a good inventor, and a great business woman by all accounts, but it kind of seems that Varrick's almost constant output of ideas will build the next century, not her.
Or maybe she'll invent the computer or the television set in the near future or something, we'll see.
>>118010 >Like, she's smart, a good inventor, and a great business woman by all accounts, but it kind of seems that Varrick's almost constant output of ideas will build the next century, not her.
She could always do like Edison and just assassinate his character so bad that people won't treat him seriously until decades after his death.
>>118012 And makes a quality Airship. Be interesting to see if this world develop around Airship travel, instead of that being like real life where someone brings it up every couple of decades and then dismisses it.
Airships and High Speed Rail. I like the possible mix.
I do like the design of her airship with the bladders being more central than at the top.
I remember a lot of people theorizing about Kya playing a bigger role healing Korra in this upcoming season.. Looks like that's not gonna be too far from the truth. I'm glad; any opportunity to expand on Aang's other kids is a good opportunity to me.
After several google searches I can't find out shit about them. Upstart new studio? Maybe they're just doing the CGI? The base animation style still seems like typical Mir.
Is green Korra in Earth nation or Zaofu garb? She doesn't look that different even though an age difference of 3 years still can have a noticeable change in appearance at this point.
My prediction is at the end of this all is, if Bryke don't plan on making any more Avatars after Korra, she's probably going to grant the ability to wield multiple elements to all benders from now on, or it will be a Final Fantasy 6 end.
>invent new school of bending >decades later, metalbenders are trying to take over the world like the evil empire you had developed that style to fight years ago
I wonder if Toph would care.
Kid Toph, probably not. But Adult/Old Toph might feel differently.
>>118075 He's talked about coming back to it sometime in the future, just taking a break off it from now since they've been working on it for a decade.
So it looks like Varrick is heavily involved with Kuvira's little revolution/takeover of everything metal and industrial. And judging by the shot of evil Zhu Li climbing into a mech, I'm gonna assume he's going back to being "evil." To nobody's surprise. Good job letting an escaped convict stay free, Lin.
We're apparently gonna get a lot of wandering wisdom-seeking Korra, too. Which raises the chances of running into old Toph by a lot. In my heart, anyway.
Some low level executive is sweating right now. If the games do well, this is going to be a fun time with Viacom looking over Nick screwing the pooch on this. Highest rated show they'd had in a while two years ago with fantastic digital sales and then treating the show worse than a dog.
What kinda numbers can they get from Digital? Curious since Turtles also gets season 3 started next week on Friday.
>>118095 Interesting introduction to this brave new world of ours. Also interesting how Republic City is pushing their own Emperor Puyi-esque claimant to the Earth Kingdom throne in Prince Wu. They're in for a nasty shock when the Avatarverse Kuomintang comes screaming out of Zhaofu.
>Hey this show is awesome and you should watch it! For those of you who haven't seen it, here's why? >SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER >SPOILERS EVERYWHERE
>>118100 Except Unalaq wasn't after power. Unalaq was after... uh... something? I mean, it was balance, right? Or at least it was at first. Then it was killing all humans for some reason (apparently achieving true balance requires killing all humans because Vatuu is a robot from Futurama). So it wasn't that he was after power, or even balance really. Unalaq's motivation seemed to be that he was a directionless angry teenager looking for motivation.
Asami looks a lot like Lois Lane now. Ponce of a King starts talking about how he's Superhuman, Asami looking very annoyed at the statement. And then I remembered the shape of Korras belt buckle.
>>118108 Passes Five Million, game sells quite well in a couple of weeks. Nick decides to remain willfully ignorant and banish the franchise for a few years anyway.
Thing is, Bryke said that they wanted to have a break for a few years anyway before revisiting the franchise... it's just a question as to whether we have a three year gap like between Airbender and Korra, or Nick decide to make it even longer. Like five years or more.
>>118111 Let it rest for a while before bringing in the next series I'd say two years since part of Korra development was foot dragging. I'd love to see an Earth Avatar working along the Earth Frontier.
Maybe get a Visit from a Air Patrol that asks why they don't come to meet with them or the White Lotus.
Their answer that the people of the Frontier need them more than anywhere else. Setup this bender as their being too focused on the small things and not seeing the big picture and then the next one after being a high thinking Administrative type thinking in the Big Picture only so much that they miss the intricate nature of protecting the people.
Avatar Korra's answer to this "Finding the Balance, its a struggle we all must face as Avatars"
>>118112 I actually wouldn't mind if Bryke worked on something not!Avatar as their next project. They've been working in the same world for ten years and that's enough to give any creative agoraphobia. The best antidote against burn-out is to strike out and do something totally different, and I'd be very interested in what they and the rest of the team could come up with. Imagine going back in time a decade and starting from scratch knowing then what they know now, it could be pretty neat.
>>118113 >I actually wouldn't mind if Bryke worked on something not!Avatar as their next project.
This. Please. The whole Avatar franchise is done, imo. It was done a while ago. Sure, the newer Korra seasons have given up some good things, but I never felt like it worked towards an overall grand plan like the first series. And what would another Avatar series even be like? Another massive time jump into the future? Avatar using the internet to track down the bad guys? Yeah no thanks; the technology/mysticism aspects are already pushed to their limit with Korra as is. It would have to be a jump back in time to when before Aang was even born.
I say come up with something fresh and new. I have the utmost trust in them, they can do it. And hopefully they'll be able to find a more grateful home than Nickelodeon.. Though CN is just as bad.
>>118115 Doesn't have to be another jump into the future the way we see it. Just have it be like This is their happy medium for technological advancement. Just have like Star Wars it be more a change of style across the centuries than actual more technology.
>>118115 I'd like to see some sort of scifi fantasy series a la Xenogears and Blade (not Saga though, that setting was crap). Doesn't have to be Avatar necessarily, but most series I see trying that are too heavily biased towards one or the other rather than striking a balance.
